Stores Operative

The Position:

The Stores Operative is responsible for participating in the maintenance of an effective, optimal and safe stores management system and organisation within the manufacturing site. They receive, store, issue and record the traceability of all raw materials, equipment, spares, tools, PPE and consumable materials on the site. They handle and store all materials and equipment in compliance with the requirements set out in Training, Work Instructions or dictated by legislation e.g. Health & Safety. They will also assist in the shipping department to ensure customer orders are packed weighted and loaded on time.

What You Will Bring:

  • An in-depth understanding of the stores processes and procedures, including flow of materials within a manufacturing facility, gained from direct previous work experience in this area.
  • Trained in and previous experience of safely lifting, slinging & manual handling.
  • Experience of operating a forklift truck.
  • The ability to both use your own initiative and also work in collaboration with colleagues to ensure standard operating procedures are followed within the stores and kitting areas at all times. 
  • A flexible approach in order to support fast paced working environment and changing priorities through the working day. 
  • Computer literacy with previous experience of using an ERP system for stock and materials management and with Microsoft Office applications inc. Excel and Outlook.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Receiving goods in; checking quantity received vs quantity advised. Booking in and resolving any delivery discrepancies. Daily cycle counts.
  • Issuing raw material & kit, ensuring routing cards and material issued to production on time to meet operation start dates.
  • Issue of material on to system once pick is complete, ensuring quantities picked match quantities issued. 
  • Shipping; pack, weight, label and load customer orders. 
  • Ensuring all stock (finished goods, materials etc.) is stored with all relevant information in the correct location.
  • Working to 5s and Lean manufacturing standards.
  • Maintaining a clean & safe working environment at all times.
