Position Summary:  

The Senior Production Planner is the focal point for all supply chain activities and will oversee 1-3 direct reports. The Senior Production Planner supports execution of assigned value stream and coordination of new program / product launches. The Senior Production Planner leads with reporting of key performance indicators, performance data, and miscellaneous metrics. The Senior Production Planner will identify and escalate issues as necessary. Material movement and project status will also be coordinated by planner

The Senior Production Planner will plan, prepare, issue and control material requirements in conjunction with the production schedule. The Senior Production Planner will support risk management activities impacting the value chain working with cross-functional teams. The senior planner ensures that shipments are accomplished to maintain internal Revenue, Customer on-time, and Inventory commitments.  The Senior Production Planner will utilize Oracle MRP, Microsoft Excel, and process tools to achieve program / functional goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead assigned value stream by driving cross functional solutions to meet revenue goals, constraint, and material shortage resolution.
  • Manage 1-3 direct reports by providing day to day direction, coaching, mentoring and performance reviews.
  • Assume a leadership role for assigned value streams including backorder reduction and coordinating activities with other cross functional teams.
  • Plan and fully understand the monthly (Production Plan) for specific assigned value streams.
  • Lead and/or participates in cross-functional project teams related to planning and purchasing initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Releases and manages production work orders in accordance with MRP, Kanban signals, production plan goals and related planning data.
  • Manage, monitor, and update Oracle MRP Parameters for assigned value streams and production cells.
  • Works closely with manufacturing and procurement to prioritize, expedite and de-expedite work orders based on material availability, department resources, changing requirements and customer service requirements.
  • Participates in the new product development process for key strategic products and manages all aspects of supply chain planning at the new product team level.
  • Have strong working knowledge and apply of all aspects of planning/pull systems and MRP concepts such as time fences, demand input, consumption rules, AMU, and projected balance calculations and to be able to troubleshoot problem situations in these areas.
  • Manage and maintain inventory levels to the company goals at the sub-assembly, WIP and finished good levels.
  • Analyzes production plans, plant capacity and supplier capacity data to determine trends, resource requirements and constraints.
  • Monitor, analyze and be able to derive key planning parameters such as safety stocks, buffer stocks and lot sizes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of direct supply chain experience and a bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field.
  • 5+ years managing 1-3+ direct reports in a manufacturing and/or operations environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of Production Planning and Quality Control Principles.
  • Advanced MS Office skills, understanding of vlookup, Pivot tables, macro recordings, data tables, charting, data sorting segregation and formula auditing.
  • Experience with lean concepts/tools such as VSM, Kanban and Kaizen, PFEP, A3, 5 why.
  • Previous Experience in Oracle or SAP MRP II environment.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP, CRP and MPS.
  • Experience with lean concepts/tools such as VSM, Kanban and Kaizen, PFEP, A3, 5 why.
  • Understanding of production flow principles and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with many levels and types of people.
  • Effective written, oral and presentation skills(communication).
  • Strong Project Management Skills.
