Finance and Accounting Intern

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our North America and Mexico Finance Center of Excellence team as a paid intern. The finance and accounting intern fills a valuable role, and the internship program is between twelve to eighteen weeks, 30-40 hours weeky depending on the student's availability and possible school-course credit requirements. The position requires Business majors with accounting and/or finance knowledge who are looking to develop their analytical skills and are willing to support the team on various assignments, including supporting process documentation. The student is interested in developing problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail and has a good work ethic and the ability to work with others.

 

This position will rotate between teams, supporting different functions to gain experience in accounting and finance, including booking journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, financial planning and analysis, general ledger, tax, accounts payable, and collection efforts. The internship program serves as a pipeline for potential future talent with Markem-Imaje.

 

Potential Projects and Assignments: 

 

  • Financial Planning and Analysis in Technical Operations performing cost rolls and gathering data
  • Tax Exemption and Annual Reports/Property Tax review
  • Entry-level collections projects
  • Speak to customers about payments, refunds and statements
  • Assist in the support of the month-end accounting close process
  • Ensure proper coding of expenses to correct accounts and departments
  • Review/code purchase orders for correct account distribution
  • Assisting with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
  • Collaborate with in-house Shared Service Center to help resolve issues related to processing banking and concur transactions, accounting, AR, AP functions, etc. and help ensure efficiency and proper functioning of OTC, Billing, Collection and AP functions
  • Participate in process improvement projects
  • Meet with team members and leaders who will share their insights, reflect on their experiences, and have a genuine interest in your success
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Job Requirements: 

 

  • Must either be a recent graduate or in the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a business major, preferably accounting or finance
  • Satisfactory completion of introductory accounting courses and a basic understanding of accounting and financial principles or some level of knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Demonstrate interest in developing analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable analyzing data and preparing reports
  • Requires understanding of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have organization and time management skills with the ability to work without distraction
  • Possess an appreciation for customer service skills
  • Must be a team player, motivated to learn, and strongly desire to take on a new challenge.
  • Must have at least beginner-level experience in Microsoft Office, with some experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Accounting majors strongly encouraged to apply

 

*Hybrid work mode – required to be in the office at least 3-5 days a week.
