Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer will work with multiple levels of the organization to apply lean manufacturing principles in the development of new or modification of existing production processes. Work with cross functional teams to develop and implement process improvement, specify and implement CNC equipment, design and implement production equipment, design and implement machining and assembly processes, and ensure all safety standards are met

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing process and methods in accordance with product specifications and Midland quality standards
  • Perform research, design, and development of automation manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
  • Create CNC programs and/or modify programs as necessary to meet process requirements
  • Help drive and support the continuous improvement culture
  • Lead external and internal company activities related to improvement projects and work closely with individuals on the team to execute project activities
  • Accountable for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance in assigned area. Responsible for design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, including a self-assessment and report to management.
  • Lead and coordinate future capital expenditures to support growth/ productivity within the business
  • Engage in a culture of learning and professional growth
  • Coordinate multiple large projects simultaneously
  • Provide training on lean, safety, and manufacturing processes as required
  • Perform hands-on work in production/shop environment as job requires

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technology or similar degree  required
  • 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering
  • Demonstrated understanding of lean concepts (5S, VSM, Kaizen, Standard work) and single piece flow is preferred
  • CNC machining experience with castings/bar stock of SS, CS, DI materials
  • CNC Milling and turning knowledge using Mastercam or similar software experience
  • Ability to drive positive change and influence other within the organization

 

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
  • Working knowledge of CAD programs – preferably AutoCAD and Pro E Wildfire 3.0
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming and machining
  • Broad working knowledge of assembly equipment
  • Working knowledge of lean tool kit, lean thinking mindset
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 and expeirence with Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Word and similiar
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project’s completion

 

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • This position is performed a manufacturing environment and office environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, cold temperatures, chemicals, and vapors
  • May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • May require use of Personal computer,  copy machine and other office relate equipment
