Production Supervisor

Overview

Oversees all daily operations of assigned area to ensure safety, quality, and productivity objectives are met through the use of lean principles. Production supervisor will be responsible for production team performance and accomplishing company objectives through team leadership and development. Will be the key person to provide updates to management on assigned area performance, and provide order updates to customer service when needed.

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Drive safety throughout the organization by having daily safety talks, and ensuring all policies are followed
  • ID opportunities for improvement in Assembly and CNC Machining areas
  • Support and enforce Midland handbook policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all quality regulations, standards and corporate policies such as AAR M-1003 for assigned department
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve efficiency while working cooperatively with other team members
  • Implement lean philosophy, tools, and techniques to direct reports to drive performance improvement
  • Maintain machine Overall Equipment Effectiveness reporting and booking compliance in Altizon/Datonis data software
  • Facilitate 5S activities in work cells and throughout manufacturing environment
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisor/Management Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads the daily activities within the assigned team to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and costs are achieved
  • Ensure all production requirements are met through clear and concise communication with team members and other departments
  • Monitors hourly production charts and influence operators to achieve line rates
  • Provide technical assistance and support to team members
  • Responsible for reviewing performance, salary administration, coaching and development
  • Leads defining departmental staffing needs, assist in recruiting and placement of team members as needed
  • Establish standards and insure safety and environmental compliance from team members
  • Leads defining roles and responsibilities within the area and effectively delegate work within team

 

What You'll Bring:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Demonstrated experience in an organization utilizing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
  • Proven success in a supervisory and/or managerial role in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and understand drawings and prints  
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Working knowledge of commonly used business software products such as spreadsheets, word processing and database management
  • Prior experience working with ERP software such as Oracle
  • Hands on, self-starter who is able to take ownership of a project and make quick decisions
  • Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Must be process oriented with strong attention to detail

Desired Characteristics, Competence and Capabilities:

 

  • Previous experience within a Quality Standard environment is preferred
  • Secondary education degree preferred. Technical Certification, Associates or Bachelors in related field  is preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve
  • Ability to facilitate activities necessary to a project completion

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • This position is performed mainly in a manufacturing environment. May be exposed to loud operating machinery, and temperaturevariation.  Limited exposure to  chemicals, and vapors
  • May require a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
  • May require lifting up to 30 pounds with or without assistance
