Job Title:             Machine Operator, 2nd Shift 

Location:           South Chesterfield, VA 23237  

 

 

What we are looking for:  

We are looking for a Machine Operator who will be responsible for for operating a press brake and ensure proper tools for machine set up in the prescribed time and to specified quality standards. 

 

  

What you will be responsible for in this role: 

  • Operate a press brake machine.

  • Read job specifications and previous operating data to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Ensure job materials are in order prior to machine set-up. 

  • Set stops or guides to specified length as required by job instructions. 

  • Perform changeovers between different products to ensure machinery is configured correctly. 

  • Meet or exceed prescribed job standard for set-up times, line speeds, and scrap. 

  • Observe machinery for product defects or machine malfunction. Make corrections as required to ensure product meets required specifications. Measure material dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation. 

  • Perform required measurements and quality checks on product produced to ensure proper product length, geometry, and adherence to required specifications. 

  • Perform minor machine maintenance to include cleaning and keeping machines free of obstruction or debris, verifying pressures and temperatures are within stated operating ranges, and basic troubleshooting to determine if maintenance is required. 

  • Complete required production documentation accurately and in a timely manner. 

  • Ensure coordination with materials group to ensure proper raw materials are on hand. 

  • Report any unsafe working conditions to the production supervisor. 

  • Maintais a clean, safe, and orderly workspace. 

 

What are the basic qualifications? 

  • HS Diploma/GED 

  • Able to read rulers, tape measures, metal squares and other measuring instruments 

 

What are the preferred qualifications? 

  • At least one year of experience operating production equipment in a manufacturing environment 

  • Associates degree or technical certification 

  • Prior experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment

Essential Physical/Environmental Requirements 

  • Must be able to operate power tools and perform tasks that require fine motor skills (ex: threading nuts onto bolts, starting a screw, etc.) 

  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling. 

  • Must be able to lift with or without mechanical aids on a recurring basis (up to 50 lbs.). 

  • Work is performed within a production environment, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, increased noise levels and dust.
