Job Title:        Senior Accountant            

Location:        Richmond, VA             

 

 

What we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for supporting our Dover Food Retail accounting functions performing a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions. This position will require a significant focus on maintaining the general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP regulations, account reconciliations and analyses, and assisting in the year-end audit process. In addition, responsibility for tracking and reporting of capital expenditures. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting key activities that relate to month, quarterly, year-end closing, account reconciliations and auditing.

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

  • Prepare and complete month-end journal entries.
  • Assist in the analysis and validation of our financial results.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of cost standards for inventory.
  • Ensure accurate quantity and valuation of inventory and cost of sales.
  • Track and report on capital expenditures.
  • Support AR and AP accounting functions.
  • Respond to internal and external requests, including working with auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies for assigned duties.
  • Coordinate with FP&A team for budget development and monitoring.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting issues when they arise.
  • Collaborate/Engage with other cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations ensuring accuracy in reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Performs other duties and prepare various ad hoc reports as assigned or needed.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting & Finanace
  • At least 2 years of general ledger accounting or public accounting audit experience

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Oracle experience preferred.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment preferred.

 

To be a great fit for this role: 

 

  • Possess a good understanding of US GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables.
  • Must be an experienced user of Microsoft Office software, budgeting, financial reporting and general ledger software, also be willing and capable of learning new systems and tools.
  • Extended wotk hours are requireddependingon acitvity, especially during month, quarter and year-end financial closing.
  • Demonstrates sound analytical depth and technical capability in finance and/or accounting methods, with the ability to multi-task and take ownership on tasks through completion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Power Query, Power BI, Access, Oracle, or SQL a plus.
