Inspects materials and products such as raw metal stock, machine shop parts, and metal castings, fabricated material for conformance to specifications by performing the following duties.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Loads, unloads and unpacks incoming shipments.
  • Opens all incoming product to verify that parts received match purchase order specification. (ie. quantity, heat treat number are proper and match to paperwork, check to make sure items are not damaged, report any damages to purchasing, material must be verified).
  • Makes sure operating instructions are supplied with incoming equipment and filed properly.
  • Documents quantity received on purchase order.
  • Tags all incoming product with part number and bin location.
  • Examines material or products for surface defects and marks defects on Bill of Lading.
  • Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
  • Verifies dimensions of parts against blueprint specifications.
  • Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
  • Stamps marks of approval or rejection on products and writes reports of examinations.
  • Keeps stockroom and inspection area neat and orderly.
  • Pulls parts from inventory for production.
  • Returns parts not used to inventory.
  • Performs cycle counts and periodic counts of critical parts.
  • Monitors critical inventory to ensure quantity of parts are in inventory.
  • Assists others with all things inventory related.
  • Labels units for shipment making sure proper unit is being shipped to correct customer.
  • Operates sit-down propane forklift.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have good English written and verbal communication skills
  • Good arithmetic skills are required
  • Mechanical aptitude desired
  • Prior forklift operation required
  • Working knowledge of measurement instruments
  • General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Individual must be detailed oriented.
  • Individual must have handwriting that is legible
