SUMMARY

Layout, cut fits, and welds pipe, and structural materials used in fabrication of components to assemble structural forms such as piping/instrumentation, vacuum jacketed piping, spool piping, manifolds etc. by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Must train and pass ASME process for Tig 6G level.
• Must weld to x-ray quality at all time and required to pass x-ray and dye penetrant check of welds.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, GTAW-ARC (TIG) welding, TIG welding of piping from 3/8” tubing to 2” pipe
• Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
• Layout, cuts, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Fabricate from sketches, blue prints or instruction.
• Examines weld for bead size and other visual specifications to be within tolerances specified.
• Repairs/reworks products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Must identify material and marking to ensure proper pieces part and identification codes are present.
• Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines.
• Assembles completed spool pieces into final assemblies per drawings and spec sheets.
• Use of Jigs and fixtures.
• Use of  hand tools, grinders, measuring devices, and overhead crane to perform work.
• Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

-Individual must have the ability to weld and pass weld certification in a 6G position, 3/8” tubing to 2” pipe.    

-Must be able to read blue prints and interpret sub-assembly drawings.

- Strong math skills required with understanding of measuring devices.

- Understand and work with welding codes, techniques and instructions

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma, GED, or technical school; three - five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
