SUMMARY

Fits and welds together metal components of products such as PCFM's, PCM's Manifolds, frames and spool pieces with welding equipment as specified by layout, welding diagram, or work order by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.

 

Selects correct settings on orbital welding machine, selects proper orbital, MIG or TIG welding equipment and consumables to comply with established procedures which are depicted on drawings of other documents, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.  Connects spool piece to proper purge connection and sets flow meter to allow proper flow of purge gas.

 

Adjusts regulator valves for proper flow of purge gases.

 

Examines weld for bead size and other visual specifications.

 

Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces for fit-up.

 

Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines.

 

Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.

 

Assembles completed spool pieces into final assemblies per drawings and spec sheets

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS - Must be competent enough to pass a 6G sst pipe weld test in accordance with established weld procedures qualified by ASME criteria.
