Position Summary:

The Accounting Intern for Destaco is responsible for assisting with research, filing data entry, financial reports preparation and review of financial data. He/She will assist in accounts reconciliation standardization by implementing one way of reconciling accounts across the three BU’s. The Accounting Intern will assist with daily invoices, with Research & Development (QRE Tax Credit) and Oracle system implementation project.  He/She will support the Global Compliance Manager in management of Imports/Exports and trade compliance.

 

The Accounting Intern reports to Regional Controller and Global Compliance Manager in Auburn Hills, MI. The position requires the ability to work and communicate with other departments, across the regions with various levels of the organization.

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Perform research, filing, data entry, financial reports preparation, and review of financial data
  • Assist with backlog & cleanup of flagged customers & suppliers in TPG
  • Look at underlying issues and work with customers/suppliers to have a way to function electronically so the amount of vendor invoices and customer invoices which require us to do manual work go down in future
  • Support with Compliance documentation and reporting including assist with new initiatives to strengthen processes and reporting
  • Improve account reconciliation quality
  • Learn R&D rules and requirements for QRE tax credit, and meet with the subject matter experts at the Plants and Corporate office to educate them on R&D rules, to collect information on R&D projects and QRE expenses, etc.
  • Ensure proper documentation for audit as it relates to A/R, A/P, GL, and other business areas
  • Shadow and participate in discussions on Oracle system implementation

 

 

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Great organizational skills

Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Junior or Senior studying Accounting
