Position Summary:

The Vice President, Operations will be responsible for the Operations, Sourcing, and Supply Chain functions for DESTACO globally, and serve as a key member of the DESTACO executive leadership team.   The Vice President, Operations will lead the development and execution of the global manufacturing and supply chain strategy including production, procurement, and logistics.

 

This role will provide oversight to 9 manufacturing facilities across 3 geographic regions (Americas, Europe, and Asia).  The person in this role will assure that key operating metrics are achieved by focusing on quality, safety, on-time delivery, cost, and creating a culture of continuous improvement. 

 

The Vice President, Operations will report to the President, DESTACO. Approximately up to 50% domestic and international travel is required.  The position requires the ability to work and collaborate across all levels and functions within DESTACO. 

 

Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•    Provide functional leadership to a 500+ person organization within DESTACO’s Operations and Sourcing functions
•    Lead the development and execution of a global manufacturing and sourcing strategy across 9 facilities in the Americas, Europe, and Asia
•    Serve as a key member of the Destaco Executive Leadership team and contribute to DESTACO’s overall business strategy
•    Implement safety practices that create an environment where employees are injury free
•    Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement through deployment of standard work and productivity; inspire results by finding ways to work better
•    Develop operating procedures to maintain and improve high production quality, on-time delivery, and operating efficiency
•    Initiate and drive productivity projects to support ongoing margin improvement
•    Manage the global inventory planning process to ensure optimum inventory levels to meet customer needs, while minimizing inventory reserves
•    Develop and implement a global manufacturing footprint strategy - setting up new facilities or consolidating operations based on business needs
•    In collaboration with key stakeholders, continually evaluate a  make vs. buy decisions
•    Define capital investment priorities at manufacturing sites
•    Influence and empower others, minimize risk of key talent loss, and build trust at all levels of the organization

•    Create a pipeline of future leaders by cultivating an environment where there is challenging work, opportunities for exposure, and regular coaching and feedback
•    Manage the global ISO certification process.  Work with sites to ensure successful audits and ongoing compliance with ISO standards and requirements.
•    Review facilities and operational processes of acquisition targets

 

Key Accomplishments – First Twelve Months

•    Develop a global manufacturing strategy and plant footprint strategy
•    Drive significant improvement in on-time-delivery and quality at underperforming sites
•    Define the roadmap for 0Dover (operational excellence) implementation for all key sites
•    Develop a 3-year capital investment plan to upgrade outdated equipment and begin implementing advanced manufacturing capabilities at all sites

Job Requirements:

Experience:

   10-15 years of operational experience of senior operations and sourcing experience in a global manufacturing environment
•    Experience in Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies
•    Demonstrated success working in an international company, adapting to different cultures and flexing influencing styles accordingly

•    Prior experience with consolidations, mergers and acquisitions preferred
•    Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans
•    Intellectually curious with sound reasoning and judgement

•    Experience leading improvement projects in a multi-plant, manufacturing environment. 
•    Experience working globally and cross-culturally. 
•    Experience leading and developing global teams. 
•    Experience successfully leading significant change.

•    Strong in Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Education and Certification Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree required in business or related field

•    MBA or Master's preferred

 

Travel Requirements:

•    Ability to travel (up to 50% as needed), including internationally
