Position Summary:

 

We are looking for an Engineering Leader who sees themselves on the leadership  career path within a growing technology and product leadership business. You should  have a proven track record of  commercialized products, being close to the market and interpreting customer and market needs. Your excellence in technology should be matched by your business and commercial acumen. You will work with the VP Engineering and leadership team to continue our journey of agile & dev ops  transformation and implementing the key levers to enable us to have truly scalable products and solutions with speed to market.

 

You will drive  5 strategic agenda areas;

 

  1. Leading the vision and strategy of our strategic technology solutions and the governance board / processes that  fit with  the business needs.
  2. Create and execute an actionable technology strategy- in line with our “product Leadership strategy”
  3. Align product development with commercial and technology strategy
  4. Determine strategic investment profile; balance of build vs innovation, vs technical debt vs maintenance
  5. Ensure technical and product goals are combined in common road maps, ensure our technology investment solves market / customer problems in line with business strategy

 

 

You will need a growth mindset, an entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative style and a disciplined delivery focus to partner successfully across our global and diverse teams. You will need to lead and inspire global teams. You should have extensive experience as an Engineering Leader, Chief Architect and as an engineer, managing complex technical projects and know how to build products and features from scratch.

 

You will be accountable for leading the global architecture team; setting, governing and ensuring the followership of the technology roadmap. You will be the lead technical advisor to our product management and solution development leaders to enable execution excellence in solution delivery.  

 

You will drive leadership excellence within the architecture team by creating an environment that stimulates innovation, growth mindset, open communication and personal development. This role also requires you to be a change leader in the organization to assist with technology, agile, dev ops and business transformations.

 

Understanding the fueling sector, industry trends and customer segments or similar is a key advantage to being successful.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the vision and delivery of strategic technology solutions and the governance board/processes that fit the business' needs.
  • Continuously stay in touch with business by aligning with the Product Management, SaaS Ops and regional business leaders.
  • Design and oversee implementation of architectural standards, documentation and architecture tools.
  • Establish and continuously improve architectural processes.
  • Deliver architectural initiatives that drive revenue and improve efficiency in line with business strategy.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the organization's technologies and architectures.
  • Develop and maintain current and planned future state architectural blueprints.
  • Ensure solutions are designed for high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, supportability and deploy-ability, in accordance with the level of risk the business is willing to accept.
  • When necessary, prove technology solutions through POCs.
  • Develop and maintain an architectural roadmap for the company that is aligned with current and emerging business needs.
  • Assist product management with alignment of solution and technology roadmaps.
  • Communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals and strategies broadly, across the organization.
  • Develop architectural metrics and reports for the executive team, business and IT management.

 

Leadership & Management Duties:

  • Influence and collaborate at an Executive team level
  • Lead and influence senior global engineering teams
  • Lead a global architecture team.
  • Build a high performing team aligned to our culture of cultivating excellence.
  • Lead and mentor software architect teams by creating a learning environment that recognizes and maximizes the potential of all team members
  • Design hiring plans to meet business needs and work in close partnership with the corporate recruiting team and Human Resources to source high calibre talent
  • Provide exceptional performance management to team members by setting clear objectives that align with the business’ strategy and provide clarity of purpose when needed
  • Communicate architectural vision and strategy
  • Understand product line profitability and optimise decision making aligned to this
  • Manage budget, costs, objectives and key results

 

 

 

 

Shared Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure alignment of technology road maps and engineering plans.
  • Partner closely with solution teams, the Head of SaaS Operations, and Product Management to align resources and deliver on the technology strategy and architectural investments in a cost-effective manner.
  • Gain organizational commitment for enterprise level architecture and infrastructure initiatives.
  • With input from architects and engineering teams, identify shared components and ensure their delivery and reuse.
  • Establish best engineering and quality processes to reduce lead time and enhance reliability and quality.

 

 

Work Experience:

  • Leadership of global development centers / large engineering teams 100+
  • Experience with PCI payment standards highly desirable.
  • Experience with GDPR and CCPA data privacy standards highly desirable.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, App Insights, TeamCity, Jira, Chef, Jenkins, Service Fabric, Kubernetes, GitHub, and others.
  • Experience with embedded operating systems.
  • Experience working with tools such as Databricks and Power BI.
  • Experience working in Scaled Agile environments.
  • Extensive experience designing platform and application architectures with common frameworks and design patterns, especially for solutions built using microservices.
  • Extensive experience working in SaaS development teams.
  • Significant experience working with teams building large scale Azure IoT PaaS solutions.
  • TOGAF, Azure Solutions Architect and CISSP certifications highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience working as an architect and/or engineer.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior architecture leadership role. 
  • Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent.
