Job Title: Director, Software Governance and Delivery

The Director of Software Governance and Delivery is a strategic leadership role responsible for orchestrating the controls, compliance, and deployment across the organization's software landscape. This individual will define and enforce the governance standards that ensure software integrity, security, and quality, while simultaneously owning the management and optimization of the release management lifecycle. This role guarantees predictability and control in our delivery mechanisms, moving software from development to production seamlessly and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
- Software Governance & Policy Enforcement: Define, implement, and audit the governance frameworks, policies, and standards that dictate how software is designed, built, tested, and deployed. Ensure adherence to internal controls, industry regulations, and security best practices.
- Performance Monitoring & Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to governance adherence, delivery velocity, quality, and compliance. Use data-driven insights to drive continuous process improvements.
- Release Management Strategy: Own the complete release management lifecycle. Develop a forward-looking release strategy and operationalize it to balance speed, stability, and risk mitigation across all software products.
- Delivery Oversight & Excellence: Oversee the orchestration of software delivery processes, collaborating with engineering, product management, and operations teams to establish repeatable, efficient, and high-quality releases.
- Risk Management & Compliance Audits: Proactively manage risks associated with deployments and compliance gaps. Coordinate with internal audit and security teams to ensure all software releases meet required regulatory standards (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, GDPR, etc., if applicable).
- Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Champion a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging best practices and innovative methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevOps) to optimize governance and program delivery processes.
- Stakeholder Communication & Change Management: Serve as the central communication hub for all release activities. Manage organizational change processes related to software updates and ensure clear communication with engineering teams, product leadership, and business stakeholders.
Leadership and Team Development
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of scrum leaders and project managers, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- Collaboration: Drive cross-functional collaboration, resolve conflicts and promoting effective communication between diverse teams to achieve shared objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field. A master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in managing software programs or development teams, with at least 4 years in a dedicated governance, compliance, or senior program management role within a technology organization.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Agile Certifications (SAFe, CSM), or a DevOps certification are highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles, program management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), and data analysis tools.
- Core Competencies:
- Exceptional strategic thinking and organizational skills, capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a commitment to data integrity and process improvement.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams effectively.

Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
