- Ensure that processes are in place, continuously assessed, and improved to maintain compliance with the import and export compliance requirements of different regions.
- Develop and maintain company import/export manuals to define end-to-end process compliance requirements and practices, keeping pace with changing regulations.
- Manage due diligence requirements necessary to meet import and export regulations, including but not limited to “know your customer” programs, screening of customers, vendors, and other business partners against applicable blocked party and sanctions lists.
- Coordinate frequent audits to ensure import/export policies are followed and identify corrective actions to continuously improve processes, including leveraging the capabilities of our business systems to automate compliance activities.
- Identify products that are export-controlled within product lines, supply chains, and manufacturing equipment, and manage compliance with local laws and applicable U.S. regulations to ensure adherence to export control laws.
- Assist in general trade compliance matters: classification, valuations, country of origin, post-entry review, restricted party screening (VC tool), compliance of suppliers with US regulations, broker management, and monitor ADD/CVD developments that may impact the supply chain or selling opportunities.
- Provides ongoing effective communication to ensure proper awareness of import/export compliance requirements, ensuring that these requirements are properly considered throughout the business process cycle.
- Perform ACE and MSS data review for US and UK entities
- Support USMCA and UK FTA participation - end-to-end process
- Take the lead on responding to any communication or inquiry from customs regulatory bodies, customers, and/or suppliers on matters relating to import/export compliance requirements. Coordinate with Dover Corporate colleagues as appropriate.
- Work with trade compliance counsel on a global basis to understand local regulations and requirements, and to manage issues relating to compliance challenges, inquiries of customs authorities, and filing of regular entries, reports, and submissions
- Travel to visit different sites (Smithfield, Skipton, KPS Sweden, Mumbai) and support similar trade activities for the VWS business
- Other projects assigned by the DFS corporate compliance
Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in manufacturing trade compliance-related job responsibilities
- Additional expertise in supply chain management, traffic, logistics, and business is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a positive, team-oriented approach.
- Ability to assess risk and recommend actions and strategies to mitigate regulatory risks.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently on multiple tasks to meet deadlines, prioritize, and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience in tariff classification and country of origin determination. An engineering background in HTS Classification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of documentation requirements and customs regulations in the US and UK.
- Data analysis and Excel skills proficiency.
- A US Customs Brokerage License is not required, but it is highly desirable.
- Impeccable ethics and trustworthiness.
- Willing to travel
