Production Planner III

 

Position Summary: This position will encompass various processes in the production control department. This position requires a high level of interaction with manufacturing operations and others while following required Policies and Procedures. This role is primarily responsible for production planning activities, releasing work orders, performing inventory transactions, and communicating with internal and external customers. The incumbent will have experience with materials and production planning, production processes, scheduling and material flow, and improving customer service.


Qualification Requirements:
•    High School Diploma.
•    Knowledge of Wayne manufacturing processes and product bill of material structure preferred.
•    Strong ERP systems user/knowledge of Oracle (or similar) and MS Office (E-mail,) (Advanced Excel) applications
•    Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and prioritization capabilities
•    Familiar with Kaizen and Lean manufacturing principles (preferably working knowledge)
•    Familiar with Tiered Production processes.
•    Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve appropriately.
•    Understanding of computer audit trails and their importance.
•    Understanding of engineering change orders, deviations, and engineering drawings.
•    Experience balancing transactions between accounts.
•    Excellent problem solving skills
•    Determined drive to strive for improvement.
•    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
•    Has a customer-centric mentality.

 

Essential Job Functions:

•    Release discrete jobs into a production environment and deliver work orders to production.
•    Interface with manufacturing to resolve issues related to work order releases.
•    Release appropriate orders for rework when necessary.
•    Perform computer transactions to reflect material movements as needed.
•    Resolve inventory discrepancies and scanning failure transaction issues.
•    Provide commitments to other parties related to the completion of dispensers or parts.
•    Establishes production schedules and adjusts as necessary for drop-in orders and to optimize capacity and labor based on data from the master scheduler.
•    Produce necessary broadcast reports and other reports needed to assist manufacturing, which are to be published on a daily schedule.
•    Track dispensers through completion, noting shortages or manufacturing issues.
•    Assist in implementing Engineering changes


Position Responsibilities:

•    Phone and E-mail communication.

•    Occasional Parts ordering from warehouse.
•    Maintain reports as required to assist manufacturing.
•    Assist the Production Control Manager with developing processes and procedures that will support continuous improvement within the department.

•    Perform other production control functions through on-the-job experience:
•    Identify and correct negative inventory items.
•    Report shortages and update manufacturing with material commitments.
•    Label printing and Serial plate marking.
•    Pick Sheet printing, sorting, and packet preparation.
•    Interface with manufacturing to resolve issues related to material backflush.
•    Track negative inventories, identify trends, and assist manufacturing in implementing corrective actions.
