RF Technician Intern

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

Coordinates and performs activities supporting customer deliverables.  Work encompasses hands-on application of RF, HF, VUHF, and antenna systems operating in a rapid and dynamic Linux environment.  Windows systems are leveraged to aid in project management and tasking. Responsible for evaluation and repair of RF electrical and mechanical assemblies, ensuring accuracy of supporting documents, and system entries in accordance with applicable regulations/requirements. Requires the use of appropriate methods and techniques for resolving problems.  Ability to be responsive and persuasive at all levels of the organization. 

 

Duties (includes but not limited to): 

  • Fabricate electromechanical assemblies, including RF power boards, amplifiers, receivers, and antennas using manual and machine/tool-assisted methods using solid judgement and reasoning skills. 

  • Assemble, disassemble, test, troubleshoot, and document system-level and component-level problems in electrical and mechanical systems. 

  • Following bills of material to pull inventory for orders, comparing to assembly documentation, resolving issues appropriately. 

  • Maintain build time estimates considering assembly documentation, bill of material, and work environment. 

  • Receive and cycle count inventory. 

  • Actively participate in the sourcing of materials and replacement parts in conjunction with Engineering and Operations to ensure internal quality standards are met. 

  • Design and build test PCBs as required in coordination with Engineering and Operations. 

  • Writing reports, developing preventative maintenance plans, and interpreting and applying safety regulations. 

  • Staying current of industry advances and professional education, embracing the emergence of new technologies. 

  • Working independently with sound professional judgement to overcome obstacles and complete tasks on time by leveraging collaboration, delegation, and leadership skills. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY: 

High school diploma or equivalent required. .  Knowledge of Linux, Windows, RF, HF, VUHF, and antenna systems with an aptitude for understanding software programs is required.  Working knowledge of electronic circuits, wiring, soldering, and reading electrical schematics is desired. . Must have the ability to work independently to accomplish multiple duties with minimal direction and within required timelines. Must have strong attention to detail, ability to work effectively under pressure, accept supervision and direction, and have regular, punctual attendance.

  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is a large part of this position’s duties. Ensuring multiple documents match, and the corresponding system entry(ies) aligns, is of paramount importance.
