Acquires regulatory approvals for products.  Approvals include safety, metrological, environmental and governmental for our products.  Works directly with regulatory agencies and DFS engineers.  Sits on outside regulatory committees for the development of codes pertinent to DFS products and services.  Performs mechanical engineering duties as time permits outside of regulatory duties.

Develop broad knowledge on DFS electronic, hardware and mechanical components and products related to Dispenser Electronic components, Payment terminals, and Forecourt controllers.

 

Detailed Activities Description:

  • Understand relevant safety, metrological, environmental, and government codes and how they apply to our products.
  • Participates in project teams providing guidance during the concept, design, development and implementation phases so that final products can be approved by the applicable regulatory bodies.
  • Submits products and product changes to regulatory agencies.
  • Writes and/or modifies existing descriptions for products as part of submitting those products for approvals.
  • Works directly with regulatory engineers from approval organizations.
  • Works directly with field inspectors from the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) for safety approvals and Weights and Measures inspectors for metrological inspections.
  • Oversees Client Test Data Program (CTDP).  This includes:
    • Preparing for and passing annual audits by UL.
    • Maintaining lab test procedures.
    • Preparing test data sheets for testing in the lab.
    • Reviewing and approving all test data sheets.
    • Training engineers as to how to properly test per the standards.
    • Overall supervision for test equipment calibration and selection for lab. equipment.
  • Creates purchase orders and receives/submits invoices for regulatory functions.  Tracks regulatory spending.
  • Reviews/approves new parts and changes in ERP and PDM systems.
  • Maintains regulatory submission project files for both open and closed projects.
  • Handles factory & vendor Variation Notices when they occur.
  • Participates in outside committees responsible for the development of safety and metrological standards.
  • Attends industry meetings relevant to regulatory.
  • Acts as the gatekeeper for the UL on-line file at UL.
  • Provides certification information to inside and outside customers.
  • Works as a mechanical engineer when not supporting regulatory functions

 

Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 years of experience as Mechanical Engineer or 10 years of experience as lower level Technical Study
  • SolidWorks experience
  • MS Office (Word, Excel), E-mail, Data-base usage
  • Speaks & can write in fluent English
  • Previous regulatory experience preferred.
  • Experience with electrical systems preferred
