Software Developer Intern

As a Software Developer Intern at Espy, you will be part of a small but growing team responsible for creating state-of-the-art systems that provide critical signals intelligence to government customers. You will work with other engineers to enhance, test, and maintain a NodeJS/React software stack that interfaces with our core products that records high-bandwidth signal data for long-term digital storage. You will be designing web applications that help our customers visualize and understand complex signal environments. You will have the opportunity to keep up with latest advances in radio sensor equipment, computing hardware, operating systems, DSP techniques, machine learning, and other software technologies as we constantly adapt in a fast-moving environment and increase the value of our products. 

Duties (includes but not limited to): 

• Design, implement, and test JavaScript/TypeScript software in a Node.js/React framework 

• Coordinate with engineering team, field support team, and customers to design and prioritize new features and bug fixes 

• Hands-on testing and deployment support for world-wide customers 

• Stay current of industry advances and professional education, embrace the emergence of new technologies. 

• Work independently with sound professional judgement to overcome obstacles and complete tasks on time by leveraging collaboration, delegation, and leadership skills. 

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY: 

• Thorough understanding of HTML5, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Mongo 

• Passion for creating intuitive, elegant, and attractive user interfaces in the web 

• Familiar with software development using Linux and Docker 

• Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with teams to design effective user interfaces 

• Eagerness to learn and rapidly apply new skills 

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in relevant technical area: (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics) 

• Preferred: Experience/passion for functional styles 

• Preferred: Experience with WebGL 

• Preferred: Experience with software management tools (git, JIRA) 

• Preferred: Familiarity with C++ 

• Preferred: Familiarity with RabbitMQ 

• Preferred: Familiarity with Machine Learning/Computer Vision 

• Preferred: Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year  

• Preferred: Consideration for TS/SCI security clearance
