POSITION OVERVIEW: 

As a Software Developer at Espy, you will be part of a small but growing team responsible for creating state-of-the-art systems that provide critical signals intelligence to government customers. You will work with other engineers to enhance, test, and maintain a Linux C++ software architecture that captures high-bandwidth signal data from antennas and records the data to long-term digital storage. You will be designing and implementing innovative algorithms that help our customers visualize and understand complex signal environments. You will have the opportunity to keep up with latest advances in radio sensor equipment, computing hardware, operating systems, DSP techniques, machine learning, and other software technologies as we constantly adapt in a fast-moving environment and increase the value of our products. 

Duties (includes but not limited to): 

• Design, implement, and test software in C++ Linux environment 

• Coordinate with engineering team, field support team, and customers to design and prioritize new features and bug fixes 

• Hands-on testing and deployment support for world-wide customers 

• Mentor junior developers 

• Stay current of industry advances and professional education, embrace the emergence of new technologies. 

• Work independently with sound professional judgement to overcome obstacles and complete tasks on time by leveraging collaboration, delegation, and leadership skills. 

QUALIFICATIONS SUMMARY: 

• Bachelor’s degree or significant experience in relevant technical area: (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics); Master’s degree or beyond preferred 

• Active TS/SCI clearance 

• Experience designing and implementing software using C++ in a Linux environment (10+ years). Comfortable with scripting in bash and python. Experience with TCP and UDP network communications.  

• Experience with software management tools (git, JIRA) 

• Experience with signal acquisition hardware (tuners, digitizers, VITA49 etc.) 

• Experience with MongoDB or other database technologies 

• Familiarity with docker and other containerization technology 

• Working knowledge of applied signal processing (filtering, data transforms, multi-dimensional signal processing, data visualization) 

• Eagerness to learn and rapidly apply new skills 

• Preferred: In-depth understanding of timing services (GPS, NTP) 

• Preferred: Familiarity with Machine Learning/Computer Vision/CUDA 

• Preferred: Experience with Javascript/NodeJS/React 

• Preferred: Willingness to travel 2-3 times per year

• Planning and Organization Skills: Demonstrated ability to organize or schedule activities and tasks, while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability.
