Position Summary


The Senior Program Manager’s primary role is to coordinate activities to ensure a successful program rollout for the company. Knowledge or experience in payment processing and software development is strongly preferred. This role is expected to manage the program both at the highest levels and the details - ensuring the technical teams are performing effectively. This role will coordinate multiple programs and work with other Program Managers to ensure alignment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to translate the product vision into project plans within the overall NPD/PMO framework.
  • Drive process discipline and accountability throughout the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful completion of projects.
  • Project Communications: Manage the expectations of all stakeholders from the highest levels in the company through transparent and proactive communications.  Develop strategies to ensure status, accomplishments, issues, and risks are communicated clearly. Facilitate effective and efficient forward-looking team meetings.
  • Project Monitoring and Control: Track and report project metrics and deliverables through PMO tools.
  • Business Acumen:  Understand the business processes enabled by the products supported and contribute to the solution definition. Clearly communicate all program-level financial commitments to core team members and stakeholders.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong Software development knowledge.  Understand the technology concepts used on projects in enough depth to challenge assumptions, estimates, approaches, and risks. Possess general understanding of technical design, implementation, and quality assurance.
  • Project Management Thought Leader: Remain on the forefront of emerging industry practices. Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
  • Adaptable: Flexible during times of change. Adjust to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Collaboration: Elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, peers, and other functional teams.  Think outside the box to drive to creative solutions when challenges arise.
  • Conflict management: Ability to defuse tension among project team, and facilitate constructive discussion to reach resolutions.
  • Risk analysis: identify and quantify project risks and initiate risk management plans to address such risks.
  • Provide team leadership for cross functional project team resources in DFS organization.
  • Execute and enforce DFS’ Project Management processes, including but not limited to project gate transitions and change management processes.


Candidate Experience and Qualifications


  • Agile software development experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, must be comfortable presenting to groups and executives
  • Strong collaborative and influencing skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required (Engineering or related field of study preferred)
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in program or project management, or a related function working with technology products and/or services
  • Experience managing new product/technology introductions is strongly preferred
  • Business Analyst experience is a plus
  • Experience in the retail petroleum industry is a plus
