The Manufacturing Automation Program Manager reports to the VP of Operations in leading the overall strategy and project management activities in the realm of manufacturing automation for the global PSG business.  This individual will be the central automation expert for the business whole will have responsibilities ranging from the identification of automation opportunities, to aligning appropriate technologies to operational needs, and managing large scale automation projects for the business to achieve both increased capacity and improved operational effectiveness (safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Partners with the Manufacturing and Engineering function within each manufacturing site around the world to identify high-impact opportunities for automation in both product that is already in production and product that is in development (Design for Manufacturability).
•    Ability to align the challenges and needs of each unique manufacturing site to the appropriate contemporary automation technology that provides maximum benefit, quickest turnaround for implementation, and minimal cost to execute.
•    Oversees large-scale projects to implement automated solutions in assuring adherence to project budget, meeting of implementation schedule, and achievement of operational improvements targets.
•    Build partnerships with both Dover Corporate Advanced Manufacturing resources and external automation vendors to be able to quickly assess automation opportunities and implement solutions with urgency, accuracy, and sustainably.
•    Establish guidelines and procedures for implementation, operation, and maintenance of manufacturing automation in clean & non-clean environments.
•    Develop a manufacturing capacity measurement and forecasting process for PSG manufacturing sites and link automation strategy to strategic business growth initiatives.
•    Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
•    Support the process of ISO, ASI, and other certifications deemed necessary by the business

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or 10+ years of manufacturing automation experience
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with direct involvement in the implementation, operation, and maintenance of automation solutions
  • Strong communication and people management skills


Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Understands pneumatic and electrical automated design concepts
  • Understands vision / advanced inspection systems and concepts
  • Prior experience leading production and/or engineering teams
  • Experience implementing and using lean manufacturing concepts (i.e. 5S, Kanban, SMED)
  • Structured problem-solving experience (i.e. DMAIC, PDCA, CAPA, A3)
  • Knowledgeable of Industry 4.0 principles
  • Experience in Automotive, Food Processing, Biotech, Biopharma, Semiconductor, or Hygienic industries


Travel Requirement:        

Ability to travel internationally 20% of the time, and up to 50% during critical times.
