Position Summary:

The Safety Officer for DESTACO is responsible for creating, enacting, and updating job safety program for employees that encompass government Occupational Health and safety regulations as well as company standards for safety in the workplace. Develop and implement safety policies and procedure, workplace inspections, accident investigation and corrective, training, coaching, and encourage EHS in the plant.


The Safety Officer will lead and sharing global safety best practice in the plant. S/he will lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational objective focus on safety, health, and environment and employee engagement to develop safety culture.


The Safety Officer reports to Plant Manager, Thailand. The position is located in Bangkok, Thailand. The position requires the ability to work and communicate effectively with operations team and across functional with all levels of the organization, with customers and suppliers.



Key Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Update regulation of occupational safety, health and environment and communicate to DSC employee.
  • Conduct risk assessment, hazardous and unsafe conditions/acts and enforce preventative measures.
  • Developing measures to assure personnel safety.
  • Correct unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority.
  • Exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required.
  • Maintains awareness of active and developing situations.
  • Ensures there are safety messages in each Incident Action Plan.
  • Participate in the run business meeting to identify any health, safety and environment concerns inherent in the operations daily work-plan.
  • Review the Incident Action Plan for safety implications.
  • Inspects the site to ensure it is a hazard-free environment.
  • The safety officer reviews and approves all subcontractor safety plans.
  • Verifies that injury logs and reports are completed and submitted to related government agencies.
  • Verifies that all tools and equipment are adequate and safe for use.
  • Promotes safety practices at the job site.
  • Enforces safety guidelines.
  • Trains and carries out drills and exercises on how to manage emergency situations.
  • Conducts investigations of all accidents and near-misses.
  • Reports to concerned authorities as requested or mandated by regulations.
  • Conducts job hazard analysis.
  • Establishes safety standards and policies as needed.
  • Watches out for the safety of all employees and works to protect them from entering hazardous situations.
  • Responds to employees’ safety concerns.
  • Coordinates registration and removal of hazardous waste.
  • Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
  • Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc.
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
  • Submit reports to the government as requirement.

Job Requirements:


  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the field and relevant experience in a similar role


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of state and local statutes and ordinances on fire safety and prevention, loss control, hazardous chemicals, building, electrical, noise pollution and the environment.
  • Excellent communicator including verbal, and written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and managerial skills


    Education and Certification Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Program in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Registration Safety Officer as mandated by law


    Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
