The QA Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of four or more QA professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality software and embedded systems products, which run on Windows, Linux and real-time operating systems. This role combines leadership, test strategy, hands-on quality oversight, and cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement across the development lifecycle. Maintain, manage software revisions and build installers for product releases. This role requires a strong ability to quickly determine the best test approach for an assigned project, the ability to work efficiently, independently, and to be able to handle multiple projects concurrently. The manager must have a working knowledge of the Software Testing Life Cycle and will be involved in all phases of verification testing (test plan, cases development and execution, reviewing requirements) and the validation process. The QA manager is also responsible for escalated field support, verifying the field reported problems in the test lab. In addition, prepare release notes and deliver product information to the technical writing staff to facilitate the creation of documentation.
General Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA engineers/technicians, including goal setting, performance reviews, and career development
• Allocate resources and balance workloads to meet project timelines
• Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Own the quality handoff between Engineering and Support, ensuring known issues, test coverage, risks, and workarounds are clearly communicated prior to release.
• Act as a safeguard that validates not only technical requirements but also product expectations and intent as well as covering customer use cases prior to release.
• Actively identify and communicate unforeseen gaps, risks, and usability or workflow issues uncovered during testing, providing actionable feedback to Product and Engineering to improve product quality and outcomes.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately to conduct tests that ensure the application/system performs properly according to design/end-user specifications and requirements on all projects.
• Handles multiple projects simultaneously, learns new applications quickly, and tests on a variety of platforms.
• Develops test plans, scenarios, and cases used in testing based on business requirements, technical specifications and/or product knowledge to ensure they function properly.
• Design and develop automation test scripts using Selenium Web Driver.
• Documents test results, release notes and troubleshooting guide needed for field support.
• Oversee manual and automated testing efforts
• Identify opportunities to expand test automation and improve efficiency
• Review and approve test cases, scripts, and defect reports
• Documents detailed steps involved in reproducing a problem which will be helpful for development.
• Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, Support and DevOps teams
• Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release readiness reviews
• Act as the quality advocate throughout the SDLC
• Clearly communicates testing and project status.
• Establish track quality metrics (defect trends, test coverage, release readiness)
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and cycle time
• Prepare and present quality reports to leadership
• Training and providing help for support on new products and features.
• Work with support department in troubleshooting field issues that may arise.
• Complies with/enforces standards and regularly participates in process improvement activities.

Qualifications
• Bachelors’ degree and 5 years related experience/training or equivalent combination of education and training
• 5+ years direct experience functioning in a quality assurance management role
• Strong troubleshooting skills driven by a logical methodical approach
• Highly organized with strong record keeping/documenting skills
• Skill set should include the various Windows platforms, IIS, Web services, Microsoft SQL Server Visual Studio / .NET Framework, networking concepts, knowledge of Web Services, Client / Server Applications
• Prepare test plans and test cases for software applications as per requirements.
• Experience in testing Web based applications.
• Experience in automation test automation frameworks such as Selenium and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience using API testing tool to validate web APIs
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Strong comprehension of all concepts and applications of quality assurance testing
• The ability to perform all of the regular functions commonly required in quality assurance testing
• Knowledge of general troubleshooting techniques on Windows PC, Single Board Computer and Embedded boards are a major plus.
• Knowledge of electronic hardware, electrical circuits, and AC/DC components
• Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office
• Experience in SaaS, cloud-based, or embedded systems environments
• Working knowledge of DevOps or other bug reporting systems a plus
• Experience with automated test tools is a plus
• Having worked in a fast-paced changing environment is a major plus
