Europe – Global Sourcing Manager

This is a leadership role for the Dover Global Sourcing Group and an exciting opportunity to expand supply chain value strategies as Dover continues to grow successfully through acquisition and organic leadership positioning throughout the world.  Although focused on sourcing growth in Europe, the opportunity has global scope and reach.  Though it’s a multi-billion dollar international company, Dover executes at Operating Company, OpCo, level where flexibility and an entrepreneurial spirit resides.  This requires excellent interpersonal skills, relationship building and influencing.  Dover currently spends $2.4 Billion+ on an annual basis for direct materials.  


  A successful candidate will be tasked with facilitating/leading sourcing and value creation strategies in Europe across category/operating company teams for direct material spend for eight major global categories including Metals, Machining, Fabrications, Electronics, Castings, and Plastics, as well as support and lead as needed efforts to develop indirects in the region.   Direct materials spend by Dover continues to grow strategically in scope with such global sourcing efforts as make or buy, new products, acquisitions, and global/regional expansion.  The goal of this role is to continue leading and scaling up the European sourcing strategy and capabilities to bring value through quality products to Dover operating companies at the best value. Additionally, current roles in DGS Europe (sourcing manager EEU and PM/ SQA) will be reporting to this position.



Desired Skills and Experience

Industry & Regional Knowledge 

+10 years of sourcing work experience in the Region 

A working knowledge of machining, metal fabrications, plastic injection molding, castings, electro-mechanical assemblies. 

Activity & knowledge in strategically planning for, & managing, all interactions with third party organizations that supply goods to maximize the value of those interactions. 

Demonstrated ability to apply a systematic, disciplined approach to managing technical product sourcing to maximize value brought to the fast paced Dover environment. 

Apply knowledge & experience for direct (i.e., Bill of Material (BOM)) components to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) from a diverse supply base & company portfolio. 

Knowledge and experience dealing with the culture in the region.  Understanding of regional behavior, how to do business in the region and successfully leverage the culture of the region 

Desirable – knowledge of technical drawings and specifications, including required tolerances, calculated fits, and manufacturing capability. 



Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain from an accredited university. 

Desirable – Master’s degree in Business Administration. 


Position Requirements 

Working knowledge of supply chain principals (e.g., Design, Plan, Buy, Make, etc…), planning (e.g., material, production, demand), & Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems 

Deep understanding, participation, demonstrable skill in structured/integrative negotiations.

Understanding of contract development & support to bring spend under management (SUM) 

The ability to collaborate across category sourcing teams and OpCos to quickly and effectively source produce for maximum value in support of category plans and OpCo growth strategies. 

Develop high impact strategic supplier relationships to provide world class service and products in coordination with Category Teams, Operating Companies and Corporate policies across multiple industries and businesses. 

Identify & promoting deployment of cost savings, structuring cost reduction programs using value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) techniques, & other tool sets to reduce supply chain complexities & waste.  Identify opportunities within the supply base to provide value management to Dover OpCos 

Leveraging a proven track record of applying principals of Project Management to drive progress, manage resources demonstrating results & achievements 

Be able to analyze & rate appropriately risk within the supply chain & deploy mitigation strategies to reduce exposure (e.g., Plan for Every Supplier PFES) 

Familiar with internet portal solution tools such as spend analysis, eSourcing, supplier performance management, & contract management 

Familiarity with demand planning &/or materials management in a production setting 

Understanding of quality assurance & systems, E.g., ISO9001 (general), ISO14001 (environmental), ISO/TS16949 (automotive), ISO9100 (aerospace), etc… 

Understanding of Continuous Improvement, Lean, and/or six sigma process as applied to a manufacturing setting (e.g., value stream mapping) 

Ability to apply root cause analysis in a production setting to help resolve production and quality issues. 

Provide effective, informative, accurate & appropriate communication on region dynamics & trends, sociopolitical & macroeconomic behavior, key performance indicators, & reports to management. 

Travel domestically & internationally up to 50% of the time for OpCo & supplier site visit (e.g., audits) & meetings (e.g., project updates, business reviews).
