Our vision is to enable the shift from traditional to alternative fueling and continue leading in our industry.
Position Summary
DFS is a global company with offices around the world, including engineering teams focused on Clean Energy in Malmö and Breda. Preferred location for this position is Breda, Netherlands.
The Senior R&D Engineer needs to have an overall knowledge of process, mechanical and automation fields. You will be using process simulation software such as Design II and process flow diagrams (PFDs) to make thermodynamic calculations. These calculations must be transformed into specifications. As input for procurement, you prepare design specifications and data sheets. Upon request, you will review quotations for technical content.
During the production of a plant, you will verify correct construction against the design documents and collect certificates of components. You ensure that the process engineering design documents reflect the as-built condition. These certificates will be compiled and processed into a manufacturing data book.
Additionally, you will be involved in optimizing processes and staying up to date with industry trends and technological advancements. Your expertise will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and innovation within the company’s projects. You will also participate in design reviews, including risk assessments such as DFMEA and HAZOP, ensuring that safety and reliability are fully integrated into the design process.
Key Responsibilities
- Generating process design simulations, PFD, Utility Load Lists
- Leading and driving projects independently, including the development of dispensers, while actively participating in project teams
- Implementation, testing and production of documentation as part of the product development process
- Provide support for technical issues and product improvement in collaboration with departments such as Customer Support, Procurement, and Sales
- Integrate new designs and improvements into the production process
- Identifying and troubleshooting process-related issues during the development and production phases
- Contributing to risk assessments and safety evaluations as part of process validation
Profile - Knowledge

Bachelor’s or University degree in Engineering or a related field

Many years of relevant work experience in related field

Proficient in P&ID development
-
Skilled in process engineering calculations, including hydraulics, relief valves, design pressures, temperatures, and vessel design

Experienced in using thermodynamic calculation tools (Design II experience is a plus)

Capable of reading and interpreting wiring diagrams (single-line diagrams), control panel drawings, and linking electrical diagrams (hardware) to software (knowledgeable about E&I hardware components is a plus)

Experienced in working on projects in sectors such as Hydrogen, LNG, Specialty Chemicals, cryogenic field or related industries, with strong technical insight

Familiar with certification standards such as PED, MID, and ATEX

Knowledgeable in risk analysis methodologies, such as DFMEA/HAZOP studies

Hands-on experience in site-related activities is considered a plus

Software programming in simulation tools e.g. Labview or similar is considered a plus
