Compliance Screening Specialist

This role will be based in the Dover Business Services (DBS) office, based in Globalworth Plaza in Bucharest.

 

As part of the General and Trade Compliance global team, the Compliance Screening Specialist will carry out restricted party screening and Know Your Customer (KYC) review of companies, entities, organizations and individuals with whom Markem-Imaje intends to engage in business. This important role ensures that Markem-Imaje identifies parties with whom it is restricted or prohibited to transact business from a sanction, export control, and ethics point of view.

The Compliance Screening Specialist thrives on ensuring that the business operates in full compliance with US/EU and select national export control laws & regulations and in compliance with ethical standards. The person holding this role has a strong service orientation and a high sense of urgency in completing international review and screening requests within an agreed response time.

 

What you will do: 

 

  • Carry out the Know Your Customer and Restricted Party Screening of all parties globally involved in the sale, export, re-export and transfer of Markem-Imaje commodities, software and technology using specialized tools
  • Manage release decisions or escalate to the relevant levels seeking approval, channeling decisions to requestors and stakeholders
  • Follow pre-defined processes to ensure high accuracy and consistency of results
  • Recognize red flags and perform necessary due diligence within a defined scope
  • Participate in trainings in line with the Markem-Imaje Training Policy to stay updated on relevant trade compliance laws & regulations under all relevant jurisdictions and on changes to the Markem-Imaje trade compliance policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular self-reviews to ensure accurate screening and documentation results
  • Maintain auditable standards, prepare and support internal & external audits
  • Report and escalate issues or potential violations to the Trade Compliance Legal Counsel, Regional Trade Compliance Managers, and the General and Trade Compliance Senior Director as needed
  • Ensure recordkeeping compliance in line with the Markem-Imaje/DOVER Record Keeping Policy
  • Monitor and interpret all relevant customs, export controls and sanction laws and regulations.

 

What you need to have: 

 

  • Legal (Law degree or equivalent) and International Trade background
  • 2-3 years of Trade Compliance or similar background, ideally with experience in Know Your Customer and Restricted Party Screening in a fast-paced industry
  • Ability to understand and interpret trade compliance laws & regulatory requirements
  • Experience with Sanctions and Export control
  • Confident, ability to work effectively and independently at all levels of the organization
  • Works well under pressure and can set priorities, drives actions until complete
  • Excellent issue resolutions skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, good presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Visual Compliance Screening Tool a plus
  • Allow for flexible working hours to accommodate global time zones
  • Fluent English language skills
