Summary:

This position provides leadership in the areas of Health & Safety for two (2) manufacturing plants (Centerville and Keosauqua, Iowa) totaling approximately 700 full time and contract employees. Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health & safety laws. Partners with plant leadership to drive a culture of accountability around safety. Ensures health and safety standards are clearly defined and communicated throughout the organization. Ensures a disciplined process regarding safety reviews and action planning to proactively address safety concerns.

 

Essential Responsibilities:         

  • Manage all safety programs including overseeing the collection of data necessary to ensure the accurate and timely reporting to plant leadership and regulatory agencies.
  • Drive the implementation of site and corporate health and safety initiatives and ensure the workforce is trained to identify hazards, manage risk, and utilize safe work practices.
  • Manage investigation process for all incidents and injuries including reporting to regulatory agencies and follow-up/close-out of investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, standards, procedures and objectives associated with all health & safety processes and initiatives; recommend new policies or procedures.
  • Develop audit protocols and coordinate internal and third-party audits.
  • Conduct regular reviews with site and plant leadership to maintain visibility on progress and effectiveness of safety programs.
  • Manage the company’s Workers’ Compensation program.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university in Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety or other relevant, safety oriented degree program.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a Safety Specialist or equivalent role in a manufacturing environment.
