POSITION SUMMARY:

Environmental Solutions Group (ESG) is searching for a Finance Director for the Equipment Business Group. Based at ESG’s Corporate Office in Chattanooga, TN, it will also be critical for the role to visit two main manufacturing locations located in Alabama on a regular basis. This high-profile role, reporting to the CFO, will manage finance teams at both plants in Alabama, owning all financial aspects of the business unit.  The position will require working closely as a business partner with management and multiple functions including Sales, Product Management, Operations, Supply Chain, and Research and Development (R&D), to develop and implement strategic, operational, and process improvements that will drive business performance and margin growth.  This key strategic role includes taking ownership for reporting/analyzing monthly financial performance, preparing budgets and forecasts, working closely with plant management in analyzing, improving and measuring operational performance for each site, developing pricing strategies with product management, supporting new product due diligence, working with sales to understand growth opportunities and trends, assessing CAPEX requirements and measuring the return on these investments, and optimizing working capital through inventory forecasts and controls.  You will support the Operations and Supply Chain leaders to drive process improvements, establish rigor and action with operational scorecard/metrics that will improve productivity and reduce costs (including make/buy analysis).

 

As an inquisitive, data and process orientated person, you’ll have demonstrated knowledge of primary finance cycles such as budgeting, accounting, costing, and forecasting preferably within an industrial manufacturing environment preferably with strong lean/process improvement experience. You’ll want to have an intellectually curious mindset which always seeks to improve where we are at, a desire to continually develop a deeper understanding of data/drivers/processes, that will collaboratively drive effective change.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Candidate must have ability to lead and develop a small effective finance team, with an emphasis on a timely and accurate financial reporting close, as well as, continuous improvement of management accounting information including product costing, trend analysis and accurate forecasting.
  • Partner with plant leadership teams to identify opportunities that will increase productivity and deliver cost savings.
  • Enhance the processes and tools used to deliver management reporting to provide relevant, timely financial information to support decision-making, aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze current and past trends in key performance indicators including revenue, cost of sales, expenses, capital expenditures, free cash flow, and other relevant areas.
  • Provide commentary and presentations of financial performance trends and root cause analysis of forecast/plan variances.
  • Complete financial reporting, forecasting and analysis in accordance with established time frames.
  • Establish and maintain labor and overhead rates appropriate by department and product lines.
  • Support planning to understand capacity versus demand in forecast process.
  • Develop and utilize robust analytical tools to identify areas for operational efficiency improvements and cost savings.
  • Manage reporting to analyze and communicate critical business drivers.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing events, Gemba walks and other cost reduction initiatives.
  • Budget and forecast preparation and analysis.
  • Provide mentoring, leadership, and development to the finance team.
  • Provide support and training for succession planning in key areas of responsibility.
  • Ensuring accounting policies and procedures are followed and a strong internal controls environment maintained.
  • Ability to effectively interact when dealing with internal and external personnel.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality with all information obtained.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Preferably have either CPA and/or CMA or an MBA.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment using ERP systems.
  • 8+ years’ experience in a professional finance/business environment.
  • Business-oriented financial professional.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, proven results orientation, and ability to deliver quality, on-time results are key.
  • Significant ability in financial modeling with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to maintain honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Must be knowledgeable in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Possess excellent analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Be skilled in ability to effectively communicate accounting and financial information to all levels across the organization.
