Job Title: Product Manager, Digital Equipment

POSITION SUMMARY:

The position of Product Manager Digital Equipment is responsible for strategic product management activities for assigned products associated with the Environmental Solutions Group edge-based application systems. Product managers are routinely assigned specific product platform ownership within the Environmental Solutions Group (ESG) portfolio, which will include the management and strategic position of our hardware products in relation to support our product portfolio.

 

This is a high-impact, high-visibility, growth, and profit driving leadership role within 3rd Eye and ESG.  The Product Manager essentially operates as the General Manager for his/her particular product lines to ensure long-term growth; for the same Product Management is focused on Portfolio Management with the intent of maximizing market share and profitability of products over the complete life cycle of the product (from concept/ideation to retirement/pruning of mature products). 

 

Profitable growth is the core deliverable of this role.  Key Performance Indicators (KPI) include, gross margin, market share, customer satisfaction and continual product strategic growth mapping as to align with 3rd Eye, Soft-Pak, and ESG sales objectives.  

 

Product Managers are expected to be able to plan and coordinate effectively with all business functions (Sales, Engineering, Finance, Strategic Pricing etc.) to maximize the life cycle growth of product lines. 

 

Key activities of Product Managers can include value-proposition development and effective customer communication of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) benefits, new product innovation pipeline oversight, brand management, promotional publications oversight, technical publications and industry regulatory compliance coordination,   identification and implementation oversight of cost reduction priorities, quarterly and annual sales/margin forecasting,  prototype and product demonstration support, market/competitor analysis/response, financial analysis, and basic operations project coordination. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Utilize the Innovation Process, as defined with Development, to strategically align new products and options.
  • Follow productization processes to continually analyze existing products and new growths to ensure scalability and profitability.
  • Determine strategies and implement Voice of Customer events to gather information for strategic project planning and solution growth.
  • Review existing products for opportunity to maintain engagement, determine if products life cycle is complete, work to understand mechanisms for supporting or deprecating product lines. 
  • Analyze markets and competitors to identify and respond to major industry trends.
  • Manage relations and communications of technical details and customer interests between external business facing and internal teams.
  • Define existing product landscape and determine product strategy with leadership collaboration.
  • Develop appropriate value proposition supportive technical literature and training materials for available and launched products.
  • Capture, analyze, and understand product utilization and define metrics for understanding deficiencies.
  • Improve upon product deficiencies in alignment with key performance indicators.
  • Participate in all major trade shows, collaborate with marketing to form appropriate marketing materials, to booth staffing and training.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Business and/or Sciences preferred.
    • Master’s Degree in computer science is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as Business Analyst, Product Specialist, Product Owner, Product Manager, and/or software development Project Manager.  
  • Waste industry experience is preferred.
  • New product development process experience is a definite plus. 
  • Demonstrated track record of project management consisting of cross-functional teams with PMI certification.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. 
  • Candidate possesses strong analytical and technical abilities. 
  • Strong leadership and control of work processes from beginning to end is necessary.  The job demands fast, but carefully thought-out results. 
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks. 
  • Must be able to lead and influence change, cross functionally.
  • Must possess interpersonal and emotional intelligence (self-awareness of own personality traits and communications style with sensitivities to how own behaviors and style affects others in leading change and also must be able to adapt as needed to every situation).
