POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Accountant’s responsibilities will include maintaining financial records, reports, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with close processes. This position will assist the Corporate Controller with auditing, maintaining, improving, and implementing processes to comply and report in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies.  The Senior Financial Accountant will coordinate with the Corporate Controller and Dover Business Systems, Dover’s finance shared service organization, as needed and act as an internal escalation point for cash processing, Record to Report, and P-Card administration. This position will be responsible to lead weekly calls for resolving processing errors and process improvements relating to the procure to pay cycle. The Senior Financial Accountant will coordinate with Corporate Controller to assist Dover’s Tax Team to complete schedules, returns and payments for annual income tax and unclaimed property reporting.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

General Ledger and Shared Service Liaison:

  • Prepare general ledger entries, maintain detailed records, and support and prepare account reconciliations as assigned.
  • Assist with routine updates of general ledger estimates and liability true-ups.
  • Assist with routine monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting schedules.
  • Assist with updates of policies, procedures, and SOX documentation.
  • Collaborate with Dover Business Systems and within business stakeholders as an escalation point to help investigate and resolve discrepancies with incoming and outgoing transaction files.
  • Assist in coordination of fixed asset management processes.
  • Coordinate the completion of audits with internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with routine follow-up with control owners on remediation of control findings.
  • Assist with documenting quarterly reviews of user access and segregation of duties.
  • Assist with documenting the review of service organization control reports.
  • Perform audits and reviews of documented policies, procedures or SOX controls as identified.
  • Perform audit and reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.

Tax Administration:

  • Support third party tax Preparer to ensure tax liabilities are reported accurately and timely.
  • Communicate unreconciled transactions and discrepancies internally for further support or remediation.
  • Research sales tax questions and validate systems record and report sales tax appropriately.
  • Manage sales tax audits.
  • Coordinate with AP, AR, and Dover’s Tax Team regarding transactions to be reported as unclaimed property.
  • Prepare schedules for quarterly and annual income tax reporting requirements.
  • Complete filings and schedules for property taxes, business licenses, business annual reports, and census reports.

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in preparing and auditing financial statements.
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable, General Ledger Accounting, Sales, and Income Taxes.
  • Experience with creating and/or processing daily entries and reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting processes and cycles.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and ERP systems.
  • Familiarity with accounting, audit and corporate finance principles and procedures.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and organize efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, keeps timelines and meets deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, ensures accuracy in completion of work.
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships throughout the organization.
