Job Title:  Supervisor, Maintenance

Location:  Chester, VA

 

What we are looking for:

 

The Supervisor, Maintenance provides leadership to team leads and a team of hourly skilled employees, ensuring the team meets repairs safely, on time, and to established quality standards. This position will be responsible for routine maintenance support to the operations departments in a highly automated environment.

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Hires and trains maintenance department staff.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.  
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
  • Evaluates systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
  • Develops maintenance procedures and schedules.
  • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Extensive knowledge of building systems such as plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and determine repairs that are needed.
  • Ability to plan maintenance schedules for building systems.
  • Excellent supervisory skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a leadership position (team lead, team captain, supervisor, shift lead, etc.)
  • At least five years of maintenance experience required.
  • Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Two years’ experience with 5S/6S, Lean/Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to interact and work effectively with employees at levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to work extended and/or weekend hours when required.
  • 10 + years of Maintenance Leadership
  • Experience in robotics (Fanuc) and PLC Programming with Allen Bradley systems
