Position Title: New Product Development Technician                        Reports To: NPD Engineering Manager

Location: PSG Cincinnati                                                                          FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Position Summary:  

PSG Cincinnati’s New Product Development (NPD) Technician works directly with the Global NPD Team based in Cincinnati, OH and is responsible for the supporting mechanical and electrical projects. This role delivers high quality hands-on work that assists the NDP Team to be more productive and innovative and to reduce project risk.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of electrical and mechanical products by providing hands-on support such as building prototypes, testing engineering prototypes, and creating engineering drawings.
  • Maintain the engineering mechanical and electrical labs to keep organized, clean, safe, stocked, and equipment in good working order.
  • Provide practical input and feedback on designs.
  • Complete necessary  testing to analyse product concerns.
  • Work in a lab environment to execute feasibility testing..
  • Communicate technical information both orally and in writing to engineering, quality, and management.
  • Work closely with 3rd party engineering teams and all other operational functions.


  • [Required] Associates Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar engineering discipline. Experience in place of degree may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ detailed hands-on experience working in a design or manufacturing setting with electrical and mechanical products.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Basic electrical soldering and wiring knowledge with the ability to connect electronic components, power supplies, and sensors.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause analysis using oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and other electrical and mechanical instruments and equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office especially Excel.
  • Preferable CAD experience reading and creating 2D drawings.
  • Great interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team setting.
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization in English both verbal and written.
