Job Title: Director, Operational Excellence (OPEX) and Advanced Manufacturing       

Location: Conyers, GA  

 

What we’re looking for:

 

We are looking for a Director, Operational Excellence (OPEX) and Advanced Manufacturing who will lead the manufacturing engineering efforts and be responsible for promoting and facilitating the implementation of the Dover Operational Excellence Model at the assigned manufacturing location through training, coaching, and providing systems, resources, and tools to support Operational Excellence. This includes Special Projects and its associated processes that will lead to Operations and Supply Chain Process Improvements and Optimization.

 

This position will be measured by the successful deployment of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing principles, new product introductions, and use of Advanced Statistical Tools throughout the organization to turnaround and/or enhance Operational and Financial Performance at designated facilities.

 

This position will also be responsible for driving Transformational Processes through the diligent use of Operational Excellence Tools / Methodologies, Industrial Engineering Practices enabled by Advance Manufacturing Applications, Digital Platforms and other Digital Enablers.

 

Success measures for this role will include operational and financial performance metrics, site operational excellence model certifications, and other relevant project completion measures.
 

This position requires a minimum of 20% domestic travel and occasional international travel.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Exceptional Training, Assessment, Coaching and Influencing skills to successfully deploy an Operational Excellence Model while effectively implementing from start to finish, with Action Plans to support the different Operational teams within our organization as they embark on their Operation Excellence - Lean Journeys.
  • Work effectively with all levels of the organization, from frontline employees to senior leadership with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the facilitation of training, implementing workshops, program management, and one-to-one coaching. 
  • Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering and Supply Chain Optimizations: Value Streams, Assembly Line Implementation, Manufacturing Equipment Selection & Installations, Fabrication, Machining, Electronics, and their optimal Advance Manufacturing Operations, and NPI’s including Project Launch Walls and readiness. 
  • Model, lead and coach the DFR SYSTEMS team on the culture change necessary to support and sustain Continuous Improvement.  Serves as subject matter expert in providing guidance in Lean Transformation activities to exceed Strategic Objectives.
  • Data driven, must be able to understand and explain business metrics and performance variance (business acumen) while providing change management leadership to ensure we achieve and sustain our targeted.   Dig into business and process performance data and help teams identify key metrics and KPIs that are leading indicators of Operational Excellence.
  • Properly engage, collaborate and influence all functions within the Organization to ensure the continuous improvement strategy is understood and is sufficiently supported by the appropriate Stakeholders.
  • Facilitate Cross-Functional teams through transformative Value Stream Designs, including subsequent implementation and sustaining.   Engage with DFR SYSTEMS’ Plant Leadership to direct, train and manage all aspects of Operational Excellence, including line layouts, line balancing, on-line and off-line assembly recommendations, and the like.
  • Collaborate with, and provide written requirements to, IT/Digital product selection leads for digital platforms related to advanced manufacturing technologies in automation, fabrication, manufacturing and operations (e.g. CAM, QMS, CMMS, DMS, WMS, etc.) and provide Operational Leadership driving value out of the deployed technologies.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline with a strong technical affinity
  • 12-15 years of progressive leadership experience including Operational Excellence (OPEX), Plant Management Leadership, Manufacturing & Engineering Leadership, Industrial Engineering Leadership, roles in global organizations and multi-site environments.
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • MBA desired
  • A “people-first” passion to help others learn to drive change and achieve outstanding results.
  • Competence in Enterprise Resource Planning, Material Requirements Planning and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Significant experience in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering and Supply Chain Optimizations: Assembly Lines Implementation, Equipment Installations, Fabrication, Machining, Electronics, and their Optimal Operations. 
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and experience successfully utilizing various methodologies including A3 thinking, problem statement definition, 5-why analysis, and identification and rapid implementation of countermeasures and sustaining measures.
  • Experience in leading and facilitating improvement initiatives in both transactional and non-transactional environments with emphasis in ability to do effective Problem-Solving activities – engage, motivate and improve Operations across Manufacturing, Supply Chain and supporting functions.
  • Significant experience leading transformational process improvements with demonstrated results in safety, delivery, quality, inventory, and cost KPIs (leading – lagging).
  • Exceptional training, assessment, coaching and influencing skills.  Demonstrated record of achievement in leading Change Management – Change Leadership across operations.
  • Proficient in developing, submitting, and leading complex Capital Improvements projects, from supporting an Executive level business cases presentation to the actual management of the projects.  
  • Proficient in reading and understanding business reports, especially ERP and Financial Reports.
  • Prior training and certification in OPEX process improvement tools and methodologies.
  • A combination of both strong people leadership and technical affinity.
