SUMMARY

Assists Maintenance Mechanic in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Bale scrap cardboard.

Sweep front and rear loading dock area, around cardboard baler, and time clock area.

Pick up trash in all areas around building.

Pick up and sweep around trash dumpsters and sheet metal dumpster.

Mow lawn and trim edges of lawn when required.

Assist in the janitorial duties during the absence of the janitor.

Work projects such as, install gas and air lines, landscaping, and miscellaneous maintenance projects.

Any duties assigned by the lead man or the maintenance department manager.

Carries tools and equipment to and from storage and working areas.

Holds scaffolding members in place or tightens bolts to erect working platforms about machines.

Pulls handles to raise materials and tools to working levels.

Loosens bolts to dismantle machinery.

Drills and breaks up concrete.

Digs trenches for machinery foundations.

Mixes and pours concrete for foundations.

Cleans machines with sandpaper, solvent, and wiping rags to prepare surfaces for painting.

Oils and greases machines.

Cleans work area, tools, and equipment.

Performs other routine duties.

Must have a valid Georgia Drivers License

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
