Job Title: Piper 1

1st Shift 6:00am - 2:30pm

 

SUMMARY

Installs and repairs refrigeration piping and components.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install copper and steel tubing.

Performs the following tasks:

Use Torch to apply solder, (braze copper to copper pipes)

Brazing Fundamentals

Operate Copper Saw

Operate Tube Bender

Operate T-Drill

Flare Making

Circuit Assembly

Compressor Prep

Liquid Piping

Suction Piping

Discharge Piping

System Evacuations

Oil Systems Installs refrigeration valves, tubing, fastening in place.

Cut, weld steel structural members, and/or refrigeration components.

Pressurises and leak checks units

Tools: tube cutters, hand vise, power benders, files, flaring/swedging tools.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
