Job Title:        Senior Accountant

What we are looking for:

 

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who will be responsible for supporting our Dover Food Retail accounting functions performing a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions. This position will require a significant focus on general ledger accounting, financial statements, policies, and controls. In addition, analyzing cost records and expenditures for accuracy. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting key activities that relate to month, quarterly, year-end closing, account reconciliations and auditing.

 

What you will be responsible for in this role:

 

  • Assist in the creation and distribution of monthly close deliverables and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare month-end journal entries with required back up as well as prepare and maintain accurate and timely accrual accounts.
  • Codes invoices and vouchers with proper account distribution and works with other affiliated locations to ensure timely and accurate intercompany transactions are recorded.
  • Support AR and AP accounting functions.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting issues when they arise
  • Serve as lead Finance representative on various projects.
  • Collaborate/Engage with other cross functional teams.
  • Evaluate business changes and implement updated controls or process improvement.
  • Establish policies and procedures as a tool to maintain better internal controls.
  • Support local Controllers and Accounting staff, as needed.
  • Participates in providing schedules, data, and information to auditors for the Sarbanes- Oxley and financial audits.
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly reconciliations ensuring accuracy in reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Performs other duties and prepare various ad hoc reports as assigned or needed.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • Oracle experience preferred.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Knowledge of Inventory and Costing

 

To be a great fit for this role: 

 

  • Possess a good understanding of US GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems with multiple variables.
  • Must be an experienced user of Microsoft Office software, budgeting, financial reporting and general ledger software, also be willing and capable of learning new systems and tools.
  • Extended work hours are required depending on activity, especially during month, quarter and year-end financial closing.
  • Demonstrates sound analytical depth and technical capability in finance and/or accounting methods, with the ability to multi-task and take ownership on tasks through completion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Advanced computer skills in Power Query, Power BI, Access, Oracle, or SQL a plus.
