Job Title:        Senior Electrical Engineer - Industrial

What we’re looking for:

 

The Product Engineering team is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Electrical Engineer for our Conyers facility who is interested in joining a fast-paced team that designs the heart of commercial and industrial refrigeration systems.

 

This Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing electrical systems for Industrial Refrigeration Systems. They will also work with sales, customers and manufacturing to produce the best product possible to meet the customer’s needs.  Work includes, but is not limited to, the design/implementation of a variety of power & control electric or electronic components, as well as control algorithms, for the proper function of refrigeration systems.  This will include researching, developing designs, and testing electrical components & equipment in conjunction with the new product develop team, the R&D team and the controls team.

 

Additional skills and experience we are looking for are project management, the proven understanding of mechanical design and manufacturability, and ability to drive efficiency/repeatability in the electrical designs of equipment.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role

 

  • Coordinate with engineers, product management, sales, and customers on electrical and controls projects related to Industrial Refrigeration Systems.
  • Design, maintain, and improve electrical and controls packages.
  • Liaison with plant electrical cells and assembly lines to implement electrical control packages and rack wiring.
  • Prepare electrical reference drawings and bills of material to support manufacturing operations.  Use CAD to produce engineering schematics with code compliant symbology, circuit layouts, etc.
  • Work with cross-divisional electrical team to develop and deploy electrical design standards and drawings via AutoCAD Electrical for Systems Div.
  • Lead development and implementation of standard process & procedures for engineering department to refine and improve product and efficiency for multiple sites.
  • Apply engineering theory to solve electrical problems
  • Work with both New Product Development, R&D and Manufacturing with the design and launch of new product and platforms.
  • Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for industrial refrigeration uses
  • Work closely with software developers to create HIL-specific test procedures to test the proper function of control software.
  • Configure and validate HIL inputs / outputs and custom wiring harness function that interfaces with the PLC and other electrical equipment.
  • Conceptualize and implement improvements to existing product for cost reductions and performance improvements.
  • Providing support to manufacturing and field service team for electrical troubleshooting, warranty support, etc.

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of electrical engineering and 3+ years of experience in manufacturing environment

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • 1+ years of experience with AutoCAD Electrical
  • 3+ years of electrical design experience in the HVAC or refrigeration industry using CO2 or NH3 refrigerants.
  • 5+ years of proven electrical design and technical aptitude
  • 5+ years of experience leading electrical teams/projects
  • 1+ years of experience with NEMA, IEC, NEC, or UL codes
  • 1+ years of experience with programmable controllers and communication protocols ((LonWorks, PLAN, BACnet, Modbus, CAN, etc.)
  • 1+ years demonstrated aptitude for learning and applying controller logic

  • 2+ years of experience developing and documenting standard processes
  • 5+ years of experience with full MS suite, Excel & PowerPoint especially.

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Lean/Six-Sigma, Green belt is desirable
  • Good aptitude with FMEA, FEA, CFD tools is a plus
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques necessary to meet industry standards for refrigeration testing and analysis
  • Experience with solid modeling in production of sheet metal products is desirable.
  • Previous experience with Matlab®, Simulink® or programming PLC
  • Ability to understand and communicate topics related to embedded system electronics and software
