Job Title:        Senior Product Manager

What we are looking for:

 

The Senior Product Manager is responsible for managing, growing, and developing a long-term strategic roadmap for assigned product portfolio at Dover Food Retail’s Hill Phoenix business unit. Will be responsible for all aspects of the product life cycle management and develop, manage, and implement product/customer and marketing strategies, new product development programs, value propositions, pricing & commercial launch to maximize profitable growth for assigned product lines. This role will also be responsible for day-to-day project management of key product development; sales and complexity reduction initiatives as well as managing the assigned product line P&L in terms of share & margin. The role requires strong cross-functional leadership, business acumen and interpersonal skills.

 

What you’ll be responsible for in this role:

 

Strategic Market, Customer & Competitive Analysis 

 

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the overall market, including overall size/growth in retail grocery segments, industry trends/landscape, competition as well as insights and needs of customers and buying value chain.

 

 Formulate Strategy & Opportunity 

 

  • Develop multigenerational Product Line Roadmaps and secure cross-functional leadership consensus at least yearly.
  • Conduct voice of the customer (VOC), primary and secondary research to facilitate development of product strategies, product plans, and identification of new products and services opportunities.
  • Identify and lead strategy projects to evaluate and provide strategic direction for innovative growth opportunities that leverage technology trends (e.g. connectivity), market trends, and integrated solutions.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance long term Technology Plans and Product Road Maps for assigned product lines.  

 

Concept & Product Development

 

  • Lead cross-functional new product development teams. Lead all aspects associated with the product definition, product development, pricing, market introduction, sales tools, and promotion plans.
  • Lead NPD Stage Gate and BCA (Business Case Analysis) processes to launch new products from concept to full commercialization.
  • Working closely with Finance, lead development of the pro forma with complete financial analysis and sales forecast for all proposed new products.
  • Develop the positioning strategy of all products and services considering price, volume, share and profitability.
  • Conduct VOC to identify market requirements and trends to drive continuous improvements and to identify product enhancements opportunities. Ensures assigned products are responsive to market needs to maintain and/or improve market penetration and share position.
  • Partner with Engineering on product development to ensures product development meets expectations and timelines.

 

Go-To-Market Execution & Launch

 

  • Collaborate with corporate marketing to develop and deliver training materials for the assigned products to support training programs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for assigned products to support internal team, field sales, distributors and end users.
  • Support the marketing communications team to develop appropriate collateral support for catalogs, launch kits, competitive alerts, sales communications, instruction sheets, etc. ensuring a successful commercial launch.   

 

Portfolio & Lifecycle Management 

 

  • Lead all product line marketing related activities and champion cross-functional activities to maximize overall product line performance including revenue growth, margin improvement, cost reduction, quality and delivery.
  • Direct the implementation of category strategies and plans for assigned products and coordinate necessary cross-functional activities. Communicate with and influence other departments in the development of strategic marketing plans and programs related to assigned products.
  • Manages product specification, cost, quality, delivery, and data integrity as it relates to assigned products.
  • Monitor and assess competitive products and programs and as a result develop and implement proactive strategies to strengthen the product line’s competitive edge.
  • Evaluates assigned products for obsolescence and communicates recommended product replacement.  

 

What are the basic qualifications?

 

  • BS or BA degree required
  • 8 - 10 years of Product Management, Marketing, Strategy, Engineering, Business Development or related experience.

 

What are the preferred qualifications?

 

  • MBA strongly preferred.
  • Refrigeration & Food Retail industry experience preferred

  • Past Experience in marketing, product management &/or commercial roles with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Proven skills in product marketing and product life-cycle management; should be “Advanced” in the preponderance of Product Management Competencies.
  • Proven ability to lead courageously, to drive large cross-functional teams to success in challenging situations.
  • Must works well with others - inspires trust and open communication amongst team members and peers.
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels of the organization cross-functionally.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including strong active listening skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze, interpret and draw meaningful and accurate conclusions from data.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex financial analyses, to develop financial models and interpret P&L statements.
  • An energetic, resourceful and hands-on individual with a strong bias for action, someone who commits himself/herself fully to stretch goals and who is dedicated to developing and delivering outstanding results.
