Job Summary

The Global Operations Director is responsible for the global leadership and management of the Operations organization in U.S., U.K. and China. Primarily responsibilities extend across materials management, global supply chain, product assembly, sales order process, quality system, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement initiatives and movement of the company’s products. The Global Operations Director reports to the VP/General Manager and is a key member of the Leadership Team, interacting frequently with other members of the management team, employees at all levels, customers, and vendors, as well as other business leaders across Dover.

Job Duties

  • Develop strategy, programs and implementation plans aligned with the operational priorities of the organization.
  • Provide department leadership and communicate company vision and culture.
  • Work with Leadership Team and other departments to assess organizational needs and implement solutions within department.
  • Generate, issue, and improve monthly and project reports for internal use and Dover management.
  • Strategic planning, tactical action, and operational decision-making to fulfill the mission of the Operations department.
  • Oversee, prepare and administer department budgets.
  • Create and implement processes that meet sales and operational metrics.
  • Lead, manage and monitor communication and reporting of key performance indicators, including assessment of productivity improvements, progress toward global standardization, and achievement in implementing Continuous Improvement and Quality tools and processes.
  • Develop quality guidelines, standards, and procedures to continually improve products, existing and new, and department’s processes.
  • Planning, directing, and coordinating the purchase and assembly of products in compliance with company goals and objectives.
  • Lead the procurement strategy, control and disposition of company inventory and assets.
  • Develop, review, and certify enterprise risk management procedures and plans.
  • Maintain employee safety and morale by creating safe working environment as well as facilities management.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to departmental managers and manage the overall performance of the Operations teams globally.
  • Coach, mentor and develop operational talent. Provide performance feedback and development plans.
  • Continue to develop results driven collaborate team culture with a key focus on adding value to the Customer.
  • Motivate and inspire the team to create and drive change with best-in-class manufacturing mindset.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business required.
  • MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
  • 10+ years of Operations management experience.
  • Experience in operations and supply chain in an engineered products manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience in leading continuous improvement activities at a regional or global level.
  • Quality experience a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated success leading sustained, successful CI transformation with proven results.
  • Experience leading improvement projects in a multi-plant, manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading global teams.
  • Proven track record successfully leading significant change and project management skills.

Job Requirements

  • The Global Director must possess initiative and drive; have broad materials management, quality, and manufacturing knowledge with solid management expertise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills from shop floor to executive level.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations as appropriate.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to think strategically and execute tactically
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills on complex topics to top management, public groups and/or Dover.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • Sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with high integrity and ethics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows Environments (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Glovia ERP.
  • Ability to work with other cultures (China and Europe).
  • Travel both domestically and internationally as required (10-20%).
