Job Summary:

The Plastics Tooling & Development Engineer is responsible for leading design and manufacturing initiatives, managing cost saving strategies and driving quality initiatives while mitigating risk of critical components from suppliers. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to ensure seamless project execution. With a keen eye for detail, they analyze data to identify potential issues early and develop innovative solutions to mitigate them.

Job Duties:

  • Manages new supplier qualification and alternate material qualification.
  • Performs supplier quality audits & tooling audits.
  • Leads transfer of product lines, tool transfers, equipment transfers, both internal and external.
  • Drives cost saving projects to achieve productivity targets, process standardization and best practices.
  • Develop innovative manufacturing processes & solutions to reduce costs and improve product quality.
  • Implement material testing and material flow analysis.
  • Provide NPI support and lead design for manufacturing initiatives.
  • Establish partnerships with internal and external resources.
  • Support customer complaint resolution.
  • Assist in application engineering efforts to improve product performance.
  • Establish application testing protocol and processes to quantify product performance capabilities.
  • Manage day-to-day operational measuring and monitoring of projects and scope.
  • Communicate project status and escalate/resolve issues that impede deliverables quickly.
  • Ensure that action item owners are managing recovery plans as applicable when commitments are not met.
  • Provide weekly product development status meetings identifying project phase, tasks completed and project specs.
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Develop an understanding of the products.
  • Comply with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that projects are organized, and deadlines are met.
  • 20% Local Travel. (40-100 miles per week).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in injection molding process and tooling development, productivity and cost savings strategies in a diversified manufacturing/distribution environment.

Skills and Education required:

  • Ability to develop process improvements particularly with manufacturing of plastic parts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently and complete deadlines on time.
  • Strong project management skills and able to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external parties of all levels of an organization, especially Suppliers and Customers.
  • Understand how to communicate sensitive information tactfully.
  • Problem solving skills including root cause analysis.
  • Hands-on leader with good attention to detail.
  • Embrace a customer first approach.
  • BA/BS in Engineering or related field.

Work Arrangement : Onsite  

Salary Range : $100,000.00   - $105,000.00
