Job Summary:

We are looking for a strong Sr. Project Manager who will drive and guide cross functional teams and projects with enthusiasm, optimism and tenacity.  By taking initiative, managing project scope changes, and identifying and mitigating issues, the Sr. Project Manager plays a critical role in New Product Development.

 

They are responsible for planning, interpreting, organizing and managing projects through all phases of new product development process. They ensure the new products perform as specified, are completed on-time and are within budget. Manages scope, cost, schedule, by coordinating with cross-functional managers and team members. Prepares and maintains schedules and costing estimates. Implements and enforces internal new product development process. Performs, manages, delegates tasks to be sure all gate deliverables are met on time. Prepares reports for management regarding status of projects. Requires 5+ years of related experience.

Job Duties:

  • Drives project progress by enforcing the new product development process
  • Owns project from kickoff to completion
  • Works closely with product management, quality, and operations to drive successful project completions.
  • Takes responsibility for the planning, coordination, communication, and control of projects pertaining new product introduction and modification to existing products.
  • Communicates project goals and action plans to the team members who participate in the project and verify that they have a solid understanding of their role.
  • Keeps product managers, team members, and functional managers informed of project progress, issues, and risks.
  • Engages internal resources to ensure fulfillment of the projects. This will include gaining commitments from functional leaders for the needed resource allocations.
  • Creates and maintains schedules utilizing Microsoft Project.
  • Leads weekly project meetings coordinating cross functional team member’s tasks and due dates.
  • Performs relevant tasks directly.
  • Identifies and manages changes to project scope.
  • Ensures project is completed on time.
  • Ensures project is completed within budget.
  • Ensures product performs as specified.
  • Ensures new product costs are within expectations.
  • Enforce adherence to NPI Phase/Gate process.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to NPI process.
  • Maintains organized and updated project details for use by the entire project team.
  • Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
  • Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

The successful candidate will have the following work experience:

  • 5+ years of project development/management with similar types of products. Design experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business discipline
  • Master’s degree and/or PMP certification a plus.

Skills Required:

The candidate should also possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities:

  •  A minimum of 5 years technical experience with project management within automation, engineering systems and mechanical products, NPI
  • Comprehensive computer application skills – Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project
  • Cross functional team management experience 
  • An ability to take initiative and work with limited direction
  • An ability to influence across a broader organization and manage and delegate through cross functional teams
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with successful completion and outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills with ability to be detail oriented as well as strategic
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
