Job Summary:
Lead the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles on the production floor.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare economic justification for new tooling or equipment.
- Provide leadership and direction in the set up of inventory replenishment systems.
- Design and implement storage and material handling systems for production that support first in first out.
- Create value stream maps to reduce inventory, increase throughput and reduce other wastes.
- Implement point of use tooling and materials.
- Lead Kaizen events in an effort to reduce waste and create an environment of continuous improvement.
- Prepare area layouts and determine process flow for optimum efficiency and space utilization supporting one-piece flow.
- Develop new and improve existing manufacturing processes for assembly and fabrication.
- Provide manufacturing design support to R&D for manufacturability and cost reduction.
- Assist in the construction of final new product prototypes.
- Assist in the transition of new products from R&D to production.
- Supervise the design and coordinate the completion of assembly fixtures.
- Coordinate and maintain the lift fixture certifications program.
- Assist in training personnel in proper assembly techniques.
- Assist in pilot production runs.
- Assist maintenance personnel as needed.
- Follow all safety and PPE requirements per established company policies.
- Promote and direct lean manufacturing initiatives.
Experience Requirements:
- Computer proficiency in a Windows environment is required, preferably with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes associated with the production of engineered products is required.
- Knowledge and application of ISO standards in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Must possess strong working knowledge of manufacturing materials and construction technologies.
- Estimating skills for manufactured parts cost and assembly time are preferred.
- Knowledge of OSHA and environmental standards is preferred.
- Must possess effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
