The position reports to the Corporate Controller and will have a close working relationship with the other Assistant Controller overseeing Segment Operations, SOX and Financial Systems and his leaders, Function leaders (e.g., Operations, Treasury, Tax, Human Resources, Investor Relations, Legal), Segment CFOs and operating company management.  This position oversees and manages five direct reports (3 Managers in SEC reporting, 1 Director of Corporate Accounting & Consolidations, and 1 Instructional Designer responsible for Finance learning and education).  Approximately 10 total reports based in the U.S. (direct + indirect).  There is also an indirect reporting relationship with approximately five resources at Dover Business Services (Cebu, Philippines) that support corporate accounting and lease accounting activities.



  • Assist Segment CFOs, Segment Operations and operating companies with various technical accounting and reporting items;
  • Lead the SEC reporting processes, including compiling, reviewing and coordinating the issuance of quarterly and annual financial reports on Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and 11-K;
  • Guide the early assessment for and related implementation of new accounting pronouncements, related disclosures, and other GAAP/SEC implementation issues, including roll out of training;
  • Provide input and quality control over earnings presentations and investor meetings materials
  • Oversee the drafting and maintenance of financial policies and procedures for company-wide use;
  • Develop and disseminate accounting and reporting training and best practices across the Company as necessary;
  • Co-lead digital finance initiatives with Director, FP&A for Digital, IT and Global Sourcing;
  • Oversee Corporate Accounting activities and controls, including monthly close, corporate financials, Health & Welfare accounting, pension & postretirement accounting, deferred compensation, insurance, incentive accruals, long-term debt, software capitalization, cash, prepaids, fixed assets, accounts payable (staffed by Dover Business Services – Cebu, Philippines) legal and environmental accruals, allocations, Board of Director expense reporting, Foundation accounting, and Government reporting/surveys;
  • Participate and contribute to discussions and investments focused on improvement and optimization of financial systems and processes;
  • Collaborate with Corporate FP&A lead to ensure consistency of reporting between Controllership and FP&A;
  • Supervise the valuation of intangible assets acquired in business combinations;
  • Drive continuous improvement within the internal and external financial reporting processes;
  • Work closely and effectively with Dover’s independent auditor;
  • Other special projects and initiatives, including deep dive OpCo reviews, etc.  




Fully qualified candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Undergraduate accounting or finance degree required. 
  • Active CPA required; public accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years total career experience, with progressive increase in leadership responsibilities
  • Energetic, collaborative self-starter that has a “hands on” approach and curious mindset.

  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC financial reporting, and management reporting and analysis

Compensation for the successful candidate will be competitive and commensurate with experience. Components include a base salary, an incentive bonus and long-term equity incentive compensation. This position is relocation eligible.
