Role Overview:

The COE sits within the Dover Global Operations organization and focuses on improving Dover’s operational performance via project execution teams aligned to five major value streams: Supply Chain Technology and Analytics, Process Excellence and Standardization, Logistics, Continuous Improvement, and Talent Development. The COE executes a broad range of projects with Dover portfolio companies covering commercial excellence, operational performance, and supply chain strategy. Example projects include product portfolio optimization, pricing analysis and process development, finance and supply chain strategy training, advanced spend analysis,  value add/value engineering workshops, and deployment of customized analysis and visualization tools. This role will be responsible for both project management and execution.

Work is project-based and varies in terms of scope and duration based on Dover’s needs.  Viable candidates can expect wide exposure to projects spanning different functional disciplines, operational environments, and product offerings across Dover’s operating companies. The ultimate goal of the COE is to leverage the diversity of Dover’s global businesses to empower Dover’s global supply chain, operational, and commercial teams with best-in-class capabilities, skills and tools. 

 Successful candidates will have a strong knowledge of and track record in project management, project execution, problem-solving, and analytics. Exposure to at least one, but preferably multiple, of the following areas is highly desired: pricing strategy, value add/value engineering, sales and operations planning, supply chain network design, strategic sourcing, and/or lean manufacturing.


Scope of Responsibilities:


  • Managing and delivering multiple supply chain, operational, and commercial improvement projects at Dover portfolio companies
    • Ability to define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and build project charters
    • Develop detailed project work plans, schedules and project status reports for senior leaders
    • Lead project execution and delivery individually or in conjunction with a team composed of COE Analyst and Operating Company resources
    • Simultaneously own project management and execution for multiple concurrent projects with minimal supervision
  • Deliver a wide range of projects including:
    • Supply chain strategy development
    • Value add/value engineering
    • Pricing analysis and pricing process redesign
    • Purchasing and material management process and organizational redesign
  • Manage internal “client” relationships with operating company leaders and personnel
  • Develop and lead training modules across the organization on topics spanning supply chain, finance, and operational topics
  • Support Dover’s post acquisition integration processes
  • Support recruitment and management of Dover’s Supply Chain Development program

Abilities and Attributes:

Required Attributes:

  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one (and preferably multiple) of the following areas: Network Design, Sales and Operations Planning, Demand Planning and Forecasting, Lean Manufacturing, product portfolio management, and/or pricing strategy.
  • Knowledge of standard Financial metrics (e.g. operating margin, cash conversion, working capital) and how to improve various supply chain and operational processes to improve performance against those metrics
  • Strong management and communication skills. The ability to bring together all stakeholders and persuade operating company stakeholders to act is essential. 
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to deploy business frameworks, develop analytical models and deploy structured analytical techniques (e.g. issue trees, five whys, root cause analysis)
  • Ability to clearly communicate project plans and expectations to all stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload while leading multiple projects
  • Ability to develop and grow relationships with stakeholders at various manufacturing sites
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.


Work Requirements:

  • Up to 50% travel to operating company locations may be required for short periods (e.g. two consecutive weeks in a month during project kickoff), with typical travel schedules ranging from 25-33% during project execution

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Science, or Engineering
  • Evidence of experience, training or education in strategic sourcing, business process development, supply chain management, data analysis and/or procurement processes
  • Advanced knowledge of PowerBI, VBA, R and/or Python languages or a willingness to learn these tools
  • Project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or an advanced degree in a technical field
  • Management consulting or industrial intelligence group experience
  • Direct experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Direct implementation experience on transformation programs (e.g. operational or commercial excellence), process redesigns (e.g. value stream redesign), or technology (e.g. ERP implementation)
  • Professional procurement or supply chain certifications (CPSM, CSCP, CPIM, etc.)
  • Data visualization and/or programming experience
  • Knowledge of supply chain and/or operations processes and best practices
