Vice President, Compensation

Dover is seeking a strategic and collaborative Vice President, Compensation to lead global executive and broad-based compensation across the enterprise. This role is accountable for the design, governance, communication, and administration of compensation programs that support business strategy, drive performance, and ensure market competitiveness and compliance. This leader will serve as the key advisor to senior executives and the Compensation Committee of the Board, providing expert analysis and guidance on total compensation strategy, including base, bonus, and equity programs. The role partners closely with senior HR, Legal, and Finance leaders, as well as Operating Companies, to ensure aligned, efficient, and scalable practices across the organization.
The VP, Compensation is a core member of Dover’s Total Rewards leadership team and plays a pivotal role in shaping global rewards strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction for enterprise-wide and global executive and broad-based compensation programs.
- Serve as primary advisor to senior leadership and the Board’s Compensation Committee.
- Oversee design and administration of base pay, short- and long-term incentive plans, and equity awards across all regions.
- Partner with external consultants and internal leaders on market analysis, benchmarking, and plan competitiveness.
- Lead the annual merit, incentive, and long-term equity planning cycles, including performance updates and payout modeling.
- Ensure programs meet all regulatory requirements, governance standards, and internal policies.
- Prepare materials and lead Compensation Committee discussions, support executive compensation disclosures and Proxy filings.
- Monitor and integrate regional compensation practices to ensure global consistency and local compliance.
- Guide communication strategies and provide subject matter expertise to HR, Finance, and senior leaders.
- Lead and develop a small team of compensation professionals and matrixed partners across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with the broader team to ensure alignment across compensation, benefits, mobility, and recognition strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance, or related field required, MBA strongly preferred
- 20+ years of progressive experience in compensation, including global executive and broad-based program design and implementation.
- 10+ years in leadership roles with accountability for managing enterprise-wide and international compensation programs.
- Deep expertise in executive compensation governance, market trends, plan design, and stakeholder communications.
- Strong understanding of compliance and reporting requirements (SEC, IRS, global regulatory frameworks).
- Exceptional data analysis, financial modeling, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders, collaborate across functions, and navigate complexity.
- Experience managing Board-level interactions and developing effective compensation committee materials.

Work Arrangement : Hybrid
Pay Range: $290,000.00 - $310,000.00 annually
This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics and other criteria outlined in our applicable bonus plan.
This position is eligible to earn other compensation in the form of LTIP, as governed by applicable plan documents and policies.
