Position Summary:

Dover is one of the world’s main producers of retail petroleum dispensing equipment and systems. We design, develop and manufacture technically advanced quality products for a niche market.


A combination of Corporate Strategy and requirement of Project Optimus drives us to raise the technology level of the Operations, Factory and Supporting Systems. It requires us to improve use of “Big Data” to drive ongoing improvement and productivity through implementation of Industry 4.0 Tools and Systems.

To develop Industry 4.0 capability, we need to employ specific skills outlined below. This outlined position of Technology Specialist is required for the duration of the Optimus Project.

On completion of the Optimus project an assessment will be made to understand if this skill level is developed significantly or indeed it warrants a permanent role.  


Key Responsibilities:

The development, deployment and support of the Technology Solutions to enable the manufacturing process. Delivering best-in-class technology solutions for the factory, allowing the business to manufacture product through the application of professional Manufacturing Engineering techniques.

Lead and manage the relationship and technical solutioning of integration points between manufacturing technology and core IT technology and business systems.

Lead the introduction and deployment of Industry 4.0 business practices and technological solutions incorporating data acquisition and exchange, internet of things (IOT), cyber-physical systems (CPS) and Digital Twinning.


Deployment of new products within the Dundee Manufacturing Centre. Interacting with development engineering to ensure design for manufacturing (DFM) issues are addressed and incorporated in new designs.

Contributing to a cross functional team environment with Engineering, Production, Procurement, IT and Planning to realize improved time to market with new products and to maintain our current production capability.


Working with design and sustaining engineers in the support of existing products as well as contributing to the production requirements in the introduction of new products and processes will also be required.

Demonstrable exposure to and application of the following is preferred; IT Best Practices (e.g. ITIL), IT Security, Operational Excellence, Continuous Improvement activity, Lean Manufacturing, Health and Safety at Work Requirements, Poke-yoke, 5S. New Product Introduction exposure is desirable.


Candidate Experience and Qualification:

Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, you will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Joining Dover you will be a team player and flexible in approach to work. Candidates may also be required to travel.  Camdidates should have a proven track record in design and support technology solutions.  You will be educated to degree level in IT, Manufactruring or Engineering.  Supplementary training Lean and 5S would be advantageous.
