2 Positions - 1 Permanent, 1 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover)

 

The Procurement Buyer is a member of a team responsible for arranging delivery of parts from our suppliers to maintain uninterrupted production with the lowest possible stock levels.  Each member of the team is responsible for managing a defined set of parts and suppliers.

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Action daily purchasing activity: Place new purchase orders and manage changes to existing orders (expedite, defer or cancel)
  • Take corrective action for any parts shortages putting production at risk
  • Participate in Plan For Every Part (PFEP) activities including setting order policies, defining pack sizes, minimum order quantities, etc.
  • Monitor PFEP against current business demands and adapt to changes
  • Develop working relationship with the suppliers to highlight performance opportunities and identify risks
  • Work with the Sourcing Team to develop opportunities and influence supplier strategy
  • Manage inventory levels with a view to safely reduce stock value and stores space requirement
  • Maintain accuracy of data in the Oracle system

 

This role demands a self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and a commitment to achieving targets.  Being analytical, a lateral thinker and problem solver, you will have responsibility for materials issues relating to your category’s product supply.

The ability to influence suppliers in a constructive but assertive manner is essential, as are good computer and communication skills.  Working in a fast-moving environment you must be able to act quickly and decisively to achieve the desired level of support to the manufacturing unit, and work with vendors to continuously improve performance.

 

Training, will be provided, however some relevant related experience in a prior role will be required.  Experience in using ERP systems would be beneficial, especially Oracle.
