Manufacturing Engineer

Work Arrangement:  Onsite

 

This is an opportunity for an ambitious Manufacturing/Production/Process Engineer to join us at the main European manufacturing site for our Cook Compression brand of products, based at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This is an 8,000m2 state-of-the-art facility, featuring a suite of fully automated, up to 9-axis CNC machining centres, where we are performing the full end-to-end manufacturing process to produce a wide range of engineered and made to order reciprocating compressor components such as valves, pistons, rings, rods and packing cases. 

 

The Manufacturing Engineer will primarily be responsible for production and shop floor support and improvement projects, resulting in increased throughput of the factory and successful cost reduction projects that deliver a positive impact to the sites P&L

 

What You Will Bring

  • Ideally degree qualified in a Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering subject, HNC level would also be considered with additional experience. Alternatively, we would consider someone who has a time served apprenticeship background, who has progressed from being a CNC Operator / Programmer
  • Over five years of full-time work experience within a lean manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of 2 years working specifically in a Manufacturing Engineer or equivalent role
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Ideally be fluent in CNC programming and have strong skills in various Microsoft Office packages
  • Able to demonstrate successfully managed projects, from initial data gathering (VSM) through to implementation
  • Demonstrated examples of significant cost saving projects delivered
  • A positive attitude to positively influence the process improvement activities throughout the organization
  • Innovative solutions, with a drive for continuous improvement
  • An ambition to constantly raise the bar and stretch the level of achievement

 

What You Will Do

  • Manage production routings to ensure accuracy of system timings to aid in our capacity plan
  • Implement improvement projects to reduce cycle times to increase output of the shop floor
  • Aid Production Management in analysing manufacturing methods to lead to make vs purchasing decisions through our network of outsourced subcontractors
  • Protect and improve sites gross margin and P&L results through cost or time reduction projects
  • Eliminate hazards through sound engineering practices
  • Ensure support to shop floor operators
  • Attend operational meetings to support various functions throughout the organisation
  • Actively participate in the improvement process with responsibilities of assisting with any preparation work and follow up activities/action items generated from CI events
  • Identify and implement solutions that lead to cost savings that are recorded within the productivity tracker
  • Have input in the creation of CNC Programs utilising CAM software, as required in line with routing operations along with creation of bills of material for manufactured components
