SCOPE:

 

This position requires excellent technical engineering knowledge coupled with superior people leadership skills, proficiency in quality systems, functional and program management experience and business planning expertise.  This will include assisting in the new product introduction, cost reduction, technology/research, and life cycle product support.  This position will be instrumental in working with the Engineering Leader and organization to establish the mid and long-term strategy that will define CES globally in the cryogenic market.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implements the plan provided by the Engineering Director on the vision and strategy to drive excellence within the engineering team.  Drive results that are specifically targeted to the industrial/commercial markets.   
  • A significant collaborative voice in driving all facets of product development including strategic planning, idea generation, product inception, product development and product launch working with Sales, Marketing, Sourcing and Operations.
  • Leads the Elon, NC CES engineering organization in the creation of system solutions, execution of the development programs, current and long-range objectives and policies.
  • Helps to implement product and technology roadmaps.  An integral element of this role is to ensure that sound linkages are established between Engineering and Sales, Marketing, Sourcing and Operations to create a seamless organization.
  • As a leader within the CES organization, guides continuous improvement initiatives and measures progress; driving engineering technology and process as a total business strategy to realize growth and profitability.
  • Ensures the development, testing, implementation and maintenance of engineering policies and procedures to assure product conformance to customer specifications.
  • Ensures that engineering support and team structures are in place for on-time product delivery.  Leads the necessary product development process improvements to support reduced cycle time and development cost.
  • Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and approvals.
  • Represents organization with major customers, shareholders, and the public.

 

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering degree (BSME preferred), or post graduate degree in a related engineering field.
  • 5 – 7+ years of engineering experience with an emphasis on multi-product and global experience.  Cryogenic valve knowledge and experience is a must.
  • Demonstrated record of success in developing and implementing engineering and strategic plans, increasing market share and building organizational infrastructure to support significant growth objectives within the CES business.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality outcomes.
  • Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of financial and Lean measurement tools, processes and ERP systems.
  • Sound technical background and experience in management of integrated development programs.
  • Successful track record of managing a team of engineers.
  • Proven track record of affecting design and productivity improvements through the use of Lean principles, business requirements, processes and procedures. Has led measurable improvements in engineering processes by the use of Lean tools. Ideally should have an understanding of the use of Lean manufacturing.
  • Engineering leadership roles should have included hardware and system design.
  • A business person who understands the role of engineering and technology innovation in support of the business and segment financial objectives. The successful candidate will be focused on creating market value for the company and its customers throughout the life of the product. This leader must be able to balance business versus functional.
  • A process-oriented leader, experienced and effective in driving a higher degree of operational excellence. Brings a strong results-orientation, achieved by implementing robust engineering processes in hardware and program management.
